We stopped by here for a hot chocalate then returned every chance we got. There cocoa is spectacular. I believe it comes from the amazon. The way they make it is so good. We brought home two pounds. I wish we would of brought twenty. There food is very good and local. We told every one we met to go... More

We just wanted some coffee and cake and decided to go here because we had read a bit about it. Upon arrival the lady who was working there was very nice and attentive and answered all our questions. They produce all their own organic coffee and cocoa, from which they make many delicious things. It was nice to see how... More

Hot cocoa was rich and nicely flavored, with a very generous portion. Food was lacking in flavor and texture. Per the waitress's recommendation, I ordered the green fried plaintain dumplings with peanut sauce. Sauce was green and did not taste of peanuts, and dumplings were mushy without a crunchy crust. After reading TA reviews, tried to sign up for a... More

Very cozy atmosphere with beautiful wood tables and items for sale such as chocolate, natural seed jewelery and natural soaps. We had traditional Amozonian breakfast. The fruit juices were lovely and the hot chocolate was amazing!

I had high hopes after reading so many great reviews about this place. In almost every way it failed to live up to the hype. The atmosphere of the cafe was utterly lacking and looked like a rushed renovation that was more of afterthought to the chocolate shop. They didn't even have music playing, which really is a basic feature... More

Went here a hangover day to waste some time infront of the computer, and it was perfect. Ordered their special tea and brownie, best brownie I have had in Ecuador where you could really taste the chocolate. The tea is also a strong recommendation! This place is perfect if you need to get some work or studying done, during lunch... More

This was high on the places I wanted to stop at - but in the end, we walked out. I had tried to make dinner reservations via email and Facebook (we are bilingual), but the responses were never definitive. We went for lunch, only to find (once we finally got service) that the menu was so small and would not... More

I go to the Kallari Cafe because it is one of the few restaurants in Quito I can afford on a Peace Corps salary. Everything on the menu, with the occasional exception of a lunch sandwich, is vegetarian friendly. The hot chocolate is FANTASTIC, and I love that there are samples on hand for the chocolate bars. The only drawback... More

We visited this restaurant a few different times for dinner. Every night we would have a juice, soup, dinner and dessert! Great food, great atmosphere, I'd recommend it again! We did a chocolate tasting with a woman named Judy and she was very knowledgeable.

Great atmosphere and great food! Definitely worth a stop. Plus AMAZING chocolate! When I was studying in Ecuador my friends and I ate dinner there at least 5 times. We also did a chocolate tasting there and it was very educational yet interesting all in one! Please take time to support this small business and help them grow!

This comparative freshness of the beans guarantees higher quality flavor to the consumer. Chocolate that is four times as fair as 'Fair Trade': Kallari's story is a giant leap ahead of standard Fair Trade practices, as it achieves higher levels of solidarity and income for all the families involved. The world at large benefits through participation; while perhaps paying a bit more for a little taste of heaven, end consumers of Kallari chocolate play a small role in increasing the standard of living in a developing nation, and in are in return rewarded with a higher quality product.
