Our son, who was visiting Quito with us, and had lived in New Orleans, stumbled on Matthew's restaurant and brought us here. It was one of the best meals we had in Quito!. Matthew had a wonderful Orleans gumbo cooked up for us. The location itself is interesting with quite a history tied to assassinated president Moreno. Great atmosphere and... More

We had dinner here tonite. My partner's chicken sandwich had some kind of spicy sauce and was tasty. My chorizo sandwich was ok though the "chorizo" tasted more like knockwurst than chorizo. We also shared a half liter carafe of red house wine which was definitely the best red wine we've had in our 5 week visit to Peru, Bolivia... More

Atmosphere is there - a very authentic setting, with somewhat funny decoration. Short but good menu. The blackened tuna was very good. I also got an Ecuadorian drink to try - hot, with sweet pepper juice and alcohol. A must try! The owner was roaming around, a quaint and very welcoming chap. Overall, a very pleasing experience. We were not... More

I can't say enough good things about this place. After being away from New Orleans for two months, I needed some good creole food. I found this place on Trip Advisor, and hoped that it would have some NOLA flavor but was prepared for disappointment.... Dios No Muere surpassed my expectations completely. I ordered the grilled shrimp po'boy with mayo,... More

Very small and cosy place. The food is good and the prices are ok. If you stay on one of the higher floors, you can pull a wire to get service, so funny! The staff is very friendly. If you like meat, I would recommend the place!

We were there yesterday. The staff is super friendly. The menu is small, but what they offer is great. I had a t-bone-steak. It was like I ordered it! Defently a place to visite again.

Waitress suggested the burger- which was akin to biting into a meat desert. I understood what they were going for- with the aioli, the onions incorporated into the meat, the partially melted cheese...however, the restaurant failed to execute. The meat was dry, the fries were underdone, but at least the beer was cold. The inside of the place is the... More

Dios No Muere is a gem of a little place in the oid town of Quito. Several tiny floors connected by a steep staircase. Only a few small tables per floor. Very friendly service and nice food. Had excellent beef. Very eclectic decorations. Very much enjoyed our time there.

TripAdvisor reviews and proximity to our hotel got us there, but the food and atmosphere brought us back. Darling little place tucked in a very picturesque alley! We were surprised at the menu not being very "local" (not typical Ecuadorian), but the food was exceptional and so we overlooked that!

Thank Sandy T
