Do the owners of the restaurant think diners appreciate being pestered to buy trinkets and smokes from street-merchants during lunch? Do they care? Do they get kickbacks? The restaurant uses a beautiful patio in front of the hotel, rare in Cuzco. But the experience is not maximized. The food is average, the menu aims for some pretty low common denominators.... More

This hotel is a great option. It is not expensive and the value you get is way more than what u pay (around 100aud). Staff is friendly and facilities superb for what u pay. Everything works well and breakfast is very good. The only issue is that is not that close from main square. It is in front of Korikancha... More

We'd already had the pleasure of exploring Lima however we checked into Los Portales to begin our adventure of Cusco and Macchu Picchu. The hotel is situated perfectly just a few hundred metres from the town square and right next to an Incan Temple. Upon entry we were greeted excellently and shown to a lovely room with a fire place.... More

Upon arrival we were introduced to Giovanny who looked after our luggage and gave us a cup of coca tea while the backlog checked in. For three nights and two days Giovanny looked after our well-being while we enjoyed Cusco and Los Portales. The location is quite central. The breakfast has everything one could imagine, great coffee, three juices, eggs,... More

This basic hotel is conveniently located for all the main tourist areas of Cusco, just opposite the Temple to the Sun. Rooms are clean and adequately furnished, but some of them have windows that open into the central courtyard area, which can be noisy (particularly with people having early breakfast) so these are best avoided if possible. However, the staff... More

Welcoming staff, good location, nice room, endless supply of coca and muna tea. Ideal when on a tour - easy to get into main town, and a nice place to get your head down after a long day.

Lovely hotel positioned close to the centre of Cusco. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. Rooms at the back are quieter although on our second stay we stayed on the first floor at the front and had no trouble at all with noise from the road. Plenty of choice for breakfast too.

Rooms are poorly lit giving a dingy, unpleasant atmosphere. I also made the mistake of looking behind the curtains and seeing how dirty they were, that does not bode well for the general cleanliness of the room (not that you'd notice given the lighting). Service at breakfast was non existent, it was a real effort to get coffee from a... More

Review is for the hotel which I stayed in for 3 nights whilst on a tour in the Cusco area. The welcome to the hotel was great. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The internal rooms overlooking the courtyard were depressing due to lack of views, so I requested a room looking out to the road which was brighter... More

This review is of the Los Portales restaurant and not the hotel. We had a nice lunch here. It may be a touristy type place, but after all, we were tourists! This was our last day in Cusco and the weather was glorious. The day before had been cool and rainy, so we were so happy to get what felt... More
