The food here is overpriced and very average. Too noisy as well. Had a burger that was average at best and half my chips were not properly cooked and raw in the middle. My wife's stuffed chicken was dry. Over thirty quid on something I wouldn't pay ten quid for in England.

We went to El Tranquilo after the theater. It was Saturday night and they were sold out of several menu options. For example, they didn't have pizza anymore! Or, why would you offer Gin Tonic when you don't have a simple soda like tonic? Only 1 waitress for too many tables, so it took for ever to take our order,... More

Food is good, and the location is great for people watching. Nice place to chill in the afternoon. The cuts of beef are always good quality.

Good pizza, some popular wines. Good to a casual dinner. Don't expect something luxurious or elaborated.

Very friendly service, local dishes (try Gramajo and Chivito). Nice pub, sometimes crowded. You will not find international cuisine here. Sometimes music is a bit loud for my taste. A few blocks from the seaside, it is the place to drink a cold beer in summer, or have dinner and drink in winter. Outdoor/indoor seating, including wind protection and heating... More

The menu is not large, but does have choices of sandwiches and a few salads. Some desserts that I didn't try. Good place to order a beer or wine and sit . Open most of the day into the night.

Even if the sandwiches are good, this place is not vegetarian friendly. Extremely noisy. We were six and we wanted to pay separately with credit cards, but they said that they do not accept more than two cards for a bill. This was the cause of a not at all nice discussion with the waitress, who ended by accepting us... More

If you want to enjoy a place where you can enjoy chilled beer, fresh salads and super sandwiches, that's the place. On top on it, you'll also learn a bit of the spanish rock bands around Uruguay. Prices are quite compatible with similar places in Montevideo.

El Tranquilo Bar is just around the corner from where we staying and an easy choice for dinner. Busy at 10.30 pm with lots of people having light meals and drinks. Service was good, friendly and helpful: I had no idea what a Chivito was ( it is not a little goat but a sort of dissassembled hamburger with various... More

If you're in the area, and need a chevitos lunch or a beer break, this is a fine spot, but don't let the name fool you: its a corner-bar with a playlist of Gypsy Kings on 'eleven'. Good sized serves at a reasonable price.
