I've been a customer for many years, and during all this time I experienced a consistently great quality, both in the food itself and the customer service, something hard to find around here.
Most 'parrillada' restaurants are a hit-or-miss. One day they might be great, the next may be terrible. The fact that you can come to this respaurant taking a great experience for granted is a sign they're doing things right.
Strongly recommended for enjoying uruguayan parrilla.

While walking around downtown Montevideo we found this restaurant so decided to have lunch here. We both had a steak which was excellent. Their wine list is excellent with some really good local wines. Good service.

Great food with English speaking staff and menus. Dinner was delightful and the serving size was just right. I had the pumpkin ravioli which had a bit of heat to it. Amazing wine and the best cheesecake-passion fruit cheesecake!! Wonderful atmosphere:quiet and great for conversation.

I'm writing this only because I can't believe this restaurant gets such good ratings, and I have a hard time believing all these good reviews. We went there and the menu was extremely limited and the steak was the absolute worst one I've had in Uruguay after over six months of living here. The steak was so tough that I had to cut it into teeny tiny pieces just to choke it down. Awful! The chimichurri was also not very good, though the other salsa with tomatoes was good.
I gave two stars instead of one because the service was very good, the server was sweet and attentive. And the dessert, the semifreddo de chocolate, was amazing!!!!

The roasted chicken was undercooked and flavourless. The service seemed nice at first, as the staff spoke English, but as the place filled up I became I visible. Despite trying to get some attention, I waited 15 minutes to pay once I had finished my meal, and eventually had to walk to the cashier myself.

Arriving at 6 pm, I was expecting a stuffy sort of welcome. In fact, the staff was warm, welcoming and delightful. I ordered the steak. It was cooked to perfection. The dessert was a surprising compliment. Overall, a fabulous, cool and sumptuous experience.

I was in Montevideo for one week. I tried several Parrilla restaurants but came to Tannat twice, because, to my taste, they have the best quality and best-prepared meat. The service was excellent both times. Gracias, Mary. I will be back.

Best Steak in town. They know their cooking points and will cook with salt if you ask them.
Order the sweet morcilla and you’ll visit heaven in every bite.

The beef ancho was delicious, cooked at perfection. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended. The couvert (which is charged) was very good as well.

Very good beef and wine but Uruguay can always provide delicious beef. It is an OK place. Nice clean with english speaking waitress but nothing out of the ordinary.

Tannat in downtown of Montevideo is an amazing place to taste one of the most famous Uruguay symbol, barbacue.
Have ordered one "assado de tira" with grilled vegetables and it's spectacluar!!!! One glass of red wine as well.
The team os very smart, Just ano "Hola" to recognize me Brazilian and gave me a Portuguese Menu.
Recommend a lot this place.

I was surprised by just how bad every single item in their parrilla (mixed grill) was. The chinchulin (tripe) was burnt on the outside yet undercooked. The kidneys were impossible to chew, dry. The ribs were tasteless and overcooked. The black pudding, sausage and the sweet potato had no flavor. No one in our party of 6 enjoyed their meal.
It seems that everything was a bad meat to begin with, and then stayed on the grill for too long - which often happens when parrillas are not cooked to order. I was very sad to see there were quite a few tourists there and I hope they will try other places because that’s not the experience of Uruguay I would like for them to go home with. Even the knives were not sharp enough!

Lunch with our tour guide. Nice ambiance and very attentive servers. We had a mixed grill with side salads, fries. Gave us a local flavor. Fairly pricey for lunch that would have been more reasonable for dinner. Worth the experience. Hope this helps.
