Began with absolutely delicious Uruguan wine, complimentary breads and then huge plates of pasta. Had to bring some home. Staff isn't in a rush but they did pay attention.

I have been eating at the Don Peperone at the Punta Carretas shopping centre for more than 10 years and in service and quality of food is consistantly good. The so called daily salad bar is a hit!

I actually thought this would be a nice restaurant located in Ciudad Vieja, Montevideo and would give me the best service and food. I really based it on its location and the fact there is so much competition on that particular street. However, the only thing I really enjoyed was the sparkling Rose Wine. The Ravioli I ordered was not... More

I went here at 2 pm more or less with a friend, where to start? first of all the place was really messy and dirty, we had to look ourselves for a good spot to seat because most tables were dirty or broken. Second, the service was really bad, the waitress was really rude and she kept staring at us... More

Other restaurants were closed late Saturday afternoon--their full kitchen was closed but pizza and sandwich options were available. The chivito (classic Uruguayan sandwich with meat, hard boiled eggs, lettuce and tomato) was very tasty. Service was acceptable.

Me and my wife were so hungry after a long trip and after several blocks of looking after a place to eat in the "ciudad vieja" in Montevideo, we decided to try chivitos. This place seemed to be ok. The service was quick. We asked for Chivito Canadense. The dish was huge but the taste was not like we were... More

It seems the owners choose the worst people to works as waiters or waitresses at Don Peperone. Their attitude is extremely rude. Always in a rush, you can tell they do not like that kind of work. They show zero interest in being polite.

Many years ago I was not going. The bathroom is 100% gross. Ruinous, dirty, and leaky. The waiter threw dirt of my table on the ground, including leftovers from previous customers. Old covered. Tablecloths dirty and broken.

Good menu options, prices are good but service is slow if you have an hour to have lunch and return to work. If you have time you will enjoy.

Uruguayan chain restaurant where you can have lunch or a snack after 3pm (kitchen closes after that and the only options are pizzas and chivitos). Service is really slow and food is average. (But they make an outstanding dulce de leche mousse).
