This is a great little pub/bar/restaurant right on the waterfront in downtown Avarua. We got there about 5:15 for a feed however found that the kitchen wasn't open until 6. But, without any hesitation the barman offered to call in the chef a bit early. Although we said that it was no problem as we could sit around and have... More

Great for a relaxed $12 cocktail and $3 beer. This place isn't anything special but it has a big heart. Owners are friendly and have some fantastic Saturday musos playing and two very entertaining cats. Great place to see the whales if your lucky too.

This was one of my favourite places...Sits up on a platform with a great view of the bay.. Fantastic food , fantastic staff with a fantastic atmosphere...Led by the gorgeous Tina who does all the waitressing and is a tireless worker.. It is a really fun place to hang out...Night time the live music comes on and the dancing begins...Really... More

We have been coming to the Whatever bar for years. Have the t-shirt. But it just didn't have the same feeling. Maybe it's because Max isn't there. Maybe the old classic rock music has been changed. Not sure what is was but it just not what it was.

Cool place that looks a little foreboding as you arrive but in all reality is full of life and a great place to feel like a local! Good food and great beers!

We stopped for a drink (we were going to have lunch but decided to carry on elsewhere). Service was great, drink prices fine, but the whole of the top deck area where the main bar and outside kitchen are located is old, tired looking and a bit grungy (sticky tables, sticky tatty plastic covered menus). Even the view didnt help... More

Whatever! There is nothing like this bar and grill to take your mind away from every day worries! You really know you're on holiday when you arrive at "Whatever Bar & Grill" tucked away on the waterfront of Avarua. I have had the pleasure of visiting Rarotonga on four occasions now, and this place has become my first port of... More

they not only provided yummy food at resonable prices they also had a live band that was both entertaining and the band members were locals. We enjoy paying happy hour prices for our beer before ordering our dinner.

If we lived here, this place would be our local. It'd be like our Central Perk. Love the steak and the burgers and cocktails and the resident cats that hung out of the deck. The staff were amazing and actually look the time to chat and get to know you which is awesome. We are already planning another trip back... More
