My wife and I are ''Mainers'' and have eaten seafood from many restuarants over the years. Mac's is great. It is not a tourist trap like you find on the coast. You aren't paying jacked up prices for a view of the ocean. I can get a large fried scallop dinner and a large clear meat lobster roll for my wife for under forty dollars. Where else could you do that?

Macs Downeast Seafood, 894 Minot Avenue, Auburn, Maine
found on TripAdviser’s “One of the 5 best Lobster Roll” places in Lewiston/Auburn Maine area.
This place a combination fish market and informal eatery was purchased by the former cook at the popular Village Inn Auburn and his business partner. Macs uses the same recipes and “fresh you can taste” ingredients.
We ordered their
lobster roll and haddock fish chowder with a side order of fries and cole slaw. The meal was reasonably priced and delicious. We definitely will be back. We suggest you drop on by and Tim and Amber will be happy to take care of you.

Delicious fried and baked stuffed shrimp and sweet potato fries! Great hardworking staff! Customer service impeccable. Busy at lunchtime with outside tables full and everyone enjoying their meals. Wonderful stop along our journey thru Maine.

Since it opened years ago, Mac's had been a favorite. This year we stopped in our first meal back from Florida and it was okay...just okay. Today they were out of one entree item (holiday weekend, but..) the clam cakes very disappointing and lobster prices held at $9.95 as area places were advertising $7.49 and $7.95 as we entered July. It would be unfair to advertise where lobster salad can be bought for half Mac's price. Half! Our weekly visits have turned monthly (maybe) this season.

So happy to find this great little spot!! We have been several times now and each time our food has been wonderful. Their staff is very helpful with portion questions and so friendly. I would highly recommend a visit to Mac's Seafood.

Been here multiple times . The fried food is tasteless . Everything tastes the same. Prices are high even for the buy and go , cook at home.

I know the "traditional" and fresh seafood is down in Portland but this place can keep up. I love the fact that it's basically a shack and everything is prepared fresh right there.

Eat there now! Had the jumbo shrimp and scallops. My favorite meal there. Tried the Haddock chowder this time too did not disappoint!!!!

Oh so good! We'd been told elsewhere that these were a "summer item". Are you kidding me? Mac's took care of our lobster roll needs. The bun for the medium size was a little odd- just my opinion- but it was fresh. Was expecting a long type bun not a round one. Hubby also had fried shrimp, yum and I had fried clams! Oh my heck, I was in clam heaven. Loved the breading, so light and crispy! If we're ever back in the area, a stop at Mac's is a must for us!

The staff are wonderful. We have visited Mac’s several times. It’s always very good.

Been going here for many years and Mac's is the real deal. A wide selection of fresh seaffod and live lobster await you. Whether you plan on picking up items to cook at home or dine-in and let the staff do the work, you can't beat this establishment. The staff is friendly but take their job seriously with a lot of work to do taking orders, cooking, serving and cashing out. Don't expect much time for small talk unless they are unusually not-busy. If you choose to dine in there is counter service or you can choose one of a handful of tables (if available). Your food will be prepped and cooked on the spot (within a few feet if at the counter)... The staff are attentive and friendly.
To the poster (obviously from away) who complained about the lackluster "overpriced" lobster roll... it's apparent from their review they ordered the clear-meat lobster roll, not the lobster-salad roll. There is a difference between the two on many levels. The clear-meat rolls have much more premium lobster meat and have no mayo, etc. It's nothing like a lobster-salad roll and the price reflects the quality of ingredients within. Personally, I prefer the lobster-salad roll because they are always more flavorful and complex and the price-point is lower. Keep up the great job Mac's!

No nonsense lobster shack. Try the naked version of lobster rolls. Simple and delicious. The seating is limited to outside benches. Nothing fancy

First time here and I am already looking forward to my next visit. Super fresh seafood at a reasonable price. You can eat in or take home fresh or prepared seafood. Very helpful staff in a hometown atmosphere.
