Eating dinner here is an amazing experience. It is extremely small, so if you get there after 8:00 be prepared to wait. The restaurant is full of local color, and local characters. The service is charming. Four people keep the entire place hopping. A couple owns the restaurant, he cooks she serves. After that they have a young woman that tends bar and a young guy that cleans up. And the food is out of this world. We had the eggplant dish and a steak. No kidding, some of the best food I have ever eaten. The place looks like a little hole in the wall, and the foods flavor and the way it is plated is extraordinary. If you like to eat in chain type places, or sterile ones don't go here. As I said this is an experience.

if you're desire is to do more than just eating Unconsciously, Pro Que No is a must dining experience hands down. Don't let its size fool you because what it lacks for in size(and trust me here) it makes up for in quality in mouth watering taste buds busting with flavor and succulents, and let's not forget its amazing staff that treats you like the family member that they hadn't seen for quite a while. when I tell you that Chef Carlos put his heart and soul into hiss delicious mouth watering creations theres absolutely no exaggeration there whatsoever.. I can go on forever about this absolutely amazing restaurant that does more than just serves you food, if you've never tasted food made with pure unconditional love it's a must to experience it here at Por Que No! Hands down in my top 10 best food and dining experience I've ever had! I am so hHonored and Blessed and my heart iand belly is not only full tonight but totally satisfied! Sonnie Dean Dallas Texas

A cozy, tiny place located six blocks away from the central square. The food is excellent and, for what you're getting, very reasonably priced. The menu is quite small but what's on it is all good stuff. The steak I had was juicy and tasty, cooked perfectly medium-rare. The chicken was tender and the sauces were both gorgeous. The star of the show, however, was our waitress who spoke flawless English and had a sharp sense of humor while staying attentive and courteous. The vibe is awesome as well, a kind of a southern speakeasy with New Orleans Jazz oozing quietly out of the speakers. The only minus is that the place is tiny so unless you have a reservation you'll probably wait all night for a table.

My brother and I had an excellent dining experience in this magical corner restaurant on the outskirts of downtown Antigua. While small in size, the restaurant is big on quality of food and service. The filet mignon is divine, which was enjoyed with a perfect bottle of red. The owners, Carlos and Carol, take care of both preparing and serving the food with exceptional pride, care and attention. Make sure to call ahead for a reservation at this artsy and eclectic cafe to ensure you get a seat, whether right at the door a view of the night beauty, at the bar or upstairs. Don't forget to sign your name one of the walls before you leave. Por que No?

Honestly, there’s not enough words in the English (or Spanish!) language to express how amazing the food, hospitality, service, and kindness of the owners and staff of Por Que No are. From multiple dinners at the restaurant to catering our wedding party and wedding dinner, we cannot say enough about the food and service provided from Carolina and Carlos. If there’s one thing you do in Antigua, go and get yourself a burrito and glass of wine at Por Que No, and stay while... you won’t regret it.

Don't judge a book by its cover... Tiny is an understatement, but the food is big and bold as it gets. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive to your needs. The menu is not extensive, but you can taste the love in every dish. Fresh baked rolls are served with your meal. I would have never found or picked this restaurant if I hadn't been taken there by a local friend. Loved every bite. You will enjoy it too.

A favorite for date night, this cozy and unique restaurant always feels like home. You can enjoy a bite or drink (or both!) at the bar while watching Carlos create inventive masterpieces using all fresh ingredients. You can also shimmy up the stairs to the second floor and enjoy dinner while chatting with Carolina. Together they've created an incredible ambiance of comfort and expectation to enjoy and indulge, while feeling incredibly welcome -- in those moments, there's no where else you'd want to be. Recommendations: Everything! For vegetarians, enjoy the hummus and eggplant. The chicken entree or burrito will not disappoint. For seafood, the daring enjoy spicy cobanero shrimp. Finish it all off with the homemade brownie ala mode.

Everything about this place and the sweet couple that owns it is so special. We stubbled upon it on our first trip to Antigua and fell in love! The food is made with so much love and the presentation is beautiful. We especially love their burritos and chiletepe hot sauce! It's so cozy and unique and the owners are so warm and welcoming. We went back a few times to eat there during our trip- which we usually wouldn't do because we like to try new places- because it's that amazing and special. The warm vibes and energy draws you in again and again! It became our home away from home. We ended up getting engaged on that trip and the first place we went to was Por Que No. The owners bought our drinks- it was so thoughtful and special to be celebrated by them! We'll never forget that. A year later we had Por Que No cater our wedding and rehearsal party. They went so far above and beyond to make everything perfect. No detail was missed! They were so attentive to all our needs and took the best care of my friends and family. I'm so grateful to them! Por Que No is not to be missed when you're in Antigua. We will be back every time we are there!

Amazing place. It’s very tiny so we had our hotel make a reservation for 6 pm (when they opened). When I say tiny I mean 5-6 cozy tables upstairs and maybe 1 or 2 downstairs. If you just show up when they open you can probably get in. We split the beef tenderloin with red wine sauce. We both were using our roll to soak up as much sauce as possible. They had menus in English. The waitress was so friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

The place is tiny, only a few tables, but the food is amazing. We ate here twice and all four dishes were outstanding, especially the shrimp curry and burrito. The house wine was inexpensive and also excellent. The last meal at a restaurant we had that was so good was actually a Michelin star restaurant in Europe. And that cost a small fortune. I can't recommend this place more highly; do not miss it.

I have traveled the globe and have enjoyed meals from Paris to Mumbai, but this is arguably the coolest restaurant in which I have dined! The atmosphere is a very groovy, jazz vibe. The bartender came out from behind the bar to great us and asked what we would like to drink, while we waited for our table. Super warm and welcoming! The meals were world class delicious! Then there is Carolina! I have never experienced a wait person who is so the heart and soul of a place! She is the most upbeat person who maintained her cheerful alacrity, even when there were people waiting for a table in the street! Her English is amazing, and her witty repartee is a joy! We left with a skip in our step! All the very best!

I’m writing this review after one of the best meals of my life: dinner at Por Que No? It’s my last night in Guatemala l, so I was hoping this place would be something special. I made a reservation for 8:00 and showed up early, had a glass of wine while I waited. The place is as quirky and small as the other reviews suggest. I’m not a big steak person but the waitress recommended the beef tenderloin and it was amazing. This was definitely the best meal I had in Guatemala and maybe one of the best meals of my life.

I'm not sure how this is not primarily a bar. Yes they do have food and yes it's kind of funky if that's what you want. The food isn't great but if you're a drinker yes they have a bar (much larger than the restaurant)

Very cute, intimate space with lovely art and other eclectic items strung about. Nice menu with something for everyone without having dozens of choices. The food was skilfully and artfully prepared by a young Guatemalan chef. My only complaint was the beef tenderloin was not tender. Tough and required a lot of cutting to slice it and chewing to eat it. Hopefully this is not common for their beef. Maybe just a delivery of substandard beef.

Everything was great. The food presentation was creative. Each plate was artistically designed and the meals were delicious. The ambiance was something we have never experienced, in fact, the entire evening was an experience - from climbing the steep staircase with a knotted rope for assistance to enjoying the art/graffiti covering the walls. This just may be our go-to restaurant in the future.
