This has been a favourite haunt of ours for a long time and we always looked forward to going here. Today, however I have to say we are so disappointed. The Thai green papaya salad was just shredded papaya in sugar water! It tasted very bland and frankly we couldn't eat anymore! We called the waiter and asked if the... More

For a restaurant on the hyped Sheikh Zayed road Shang Thai was relatively poor in terms of taste and ambience. We had the Pad Thai and Red curry prawns which lacked some ingredients you'd expect in these two classic dishes. The lemongrass mock tail was horribly watered down and the soft drinks we ordered were grossly over priced. The restaurant... More

Came there after 1 year - but now place changed: Disappointing experience - food didn't come with authentic Thai incredients, and wasn't properly prepared (chicken satay was dry, beef in beef salad almost dry like crackers) and on top the restaurant's ventilation is very poor - we smelled after old oil like having stood in the kitchen itself.

This was our first visit here and will definitely be coming back. They had a good options for vegetarians and were also willing to make anything we suggested which is superb. We were 7 of us and out of which 2 were non vegetarian. We ordered 3 soups to share, vegetable salt and pepper, spring rolls, papaya salad, green Thai... More

Shang Thai near the second interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road is a little difficult to access from the highway, but easy to access from Jumeirah side. But once you reach the venue, it's a divine experience. You are greeted by this pale green decor, a spacious dining hall and unlimited free prawn crackers with dips. Then you can delve into... More

I don't recommend this restaurant due to the following: They don't have customer service at all ( only two staff for serving customers) They took too much time to bring the order ( almost 45 minutes to bring our food ) The food is not to that level I don't recommend this at all

Convenient location, comfortable seating and good food. A good find amongst Dubai restaurants, and we will certainly be regular diners there. All the dishes were very tasty, and the staff were happy to adapt a dish to accommodate a fussy eater. Spice levels could also be adjusted according to personal preference. The complimentary prawn crackers with condiments was a nice... More

Bottom Line Up Front: Some of the best Thai food I have had in a long time made with the perfect Thai spice. Nice service. Pros: Great selection. Fresh ingredients- especially the prawns made the soup and curries pop! Cons: It was perfect for solo visitor or families as the place was empty at lunch time on a Thursday- maybe... More

We went there for the first time and the food was excellent. There is usually a buffet on fridays but it wasn't there when we went. The only negative point is that we had entertainer vouchers which were first refused by management as it was the weekend although entertainer vouchers are valid everyday but they got eventually accepted.

AboutAuthentic and Exquisite Thai CuisineDescriptionCreating its presence in the year 2009 in Muscat, Oman with the launch of two of its restaurants in prominent locations of the city - Al Khuwair and The Wave Muscat, Shang Thai has become a favourite haunt for Muscat residents. With the success of Muscat, Shang Thai opened its doors to Dubai residents on the bustling street of Sheikh Zayed Road, and lives up to the mark of serving an excellent dose of tried-and-tested Thai recipes. Our cuisine and the love we put into it...The restaurant offers some of the most exquisite Thai delicacies in a manner that is freshly and organically cooked, just like it is at the homes in Thailand. Exceptionally flavorful, every dish has a texture and essence of its own, owing to its traditional cooking method, spelling out a recipe that entices the taste buds. With its most delightful and extensive menu, Shang Thai offers much more than just the popular Tom Yum Goong or Pad Thai, steering choices to an all- embracing fusion of flavours.Humbled being Dubai's only 'All Women Chef's' diner...Shang Thai holds a reputation of being Dubai's first 'All-Women Chefs' diner where an all-women team of culinarians hailing from the homelands of Thailand run the show with utmost fervency and remarkability. The team in the kitchen is led by the zealous and proficient Chef de Cuisine, Aphaimsee Phaprom, fondly addressed as 'Mamma,' owing to her passion in creating traditional and innovative Thai recipes and her wise and sagacious attributes of managing a team of experienced kitchen brigade. The insides and the aesthetics...This contemporary fine-dining diner makes no pretense with its ambience. The restaurant professes no culinary acrobatics or dazzle by way of decor and aesthetics. The natural lighting displays a sense of tranquility and calmness, enabling a distinctive mood. Lime green being the chosen color adds to the balmy and fresh outlook of the restaurant interiors. A unique feature that adds to the ambience is of patrons having the option to choose from an open seating or a cozy private booth, adding to the exclusivity of the dining experience. The authenticity is not merely restricted to the food served at Shang Thai but also to each element, design and decor that went about in making this specialty-cuisine restaurant. The delightful atmosphere is enhanced with the zen and meditative music in the backdrop, making for a comforting setting.
