This is the best kept secret in southern Minnesota. The drive to Amboy is well worth it. Be sure to call ahead for reservations, even for a weekday lunch. I've never gone wrong with ordering the special of the day, the, smothered yams, or coffee rub steak. Even if you are full, you simply must try the raspberry bread pudding. Take... More

What a real treat the Amboy Cottage Cafe is! This is rural America at its best. You have to know that any place that needs a reservation for lunch is special. Everything is fresh and made daily using the best locally sourced ingredients. It is small and has the atmosphere of a quaint English cottage. Very pleasant staff. Fresh bread... More

This is a darling Cottage in a small town. Fresh bouquets of flowers Adorn the tables. The bread is baked on-site and is delicious. There are choices for every appetite comma beginning with breakfast and ending with dinner. My husband enjoy the beautiful pork chop done German style. I had a delightful salad. It was a chicken Waldorf salad. Don't... More

This tiny cafe has food that is as delightful as its atmosphere. It feels and tastes like home to those of us raised in southern Minnesota. No matter what you order, you'll be happy with the results. I've been there about a dozen times on different occasions and have never been disappointed. Absolutely delicious!

Very small cafe with "Down home" quality and flavors. Anything on the menu is a winner. You would not expect to find such a small treasure in such an out of the way location. Reasonable prices too.

Friends took me to this out-of-the way place during a visit to the midwest. Took us about 45 minutes to get there and it was well worth the drive! Very cute place with tons of memorabilia on the walls. Very friendly people, both the staff and the other diners. We were there for lunch and ordered burgers. Very good burgers!... More

We enjoyed a day of exploring and had been to the Petroglyps in Comfrey and we wanted lunch. We had been here before and wanted to come back. Food is so good and interesting recipes. The peach pie for dessert was absolutely scrumptious and topped off our day perfectly.

The Amboy cottage cafe is by far the best restaurant you could imagine and is well worth going some extra miles. It is a destination in the small town of Amboy, MN. Whatever the cafe special of the day is, order it and you won't be disappointed. The coffee rub steak and smothered yams are also a favorites of mine.... More

The German Burger was very well done and too dry for my taste, the onions were a little over cooked also. The bread bun was good. The place was an old gas station, that was moved and turned into a café. Interesting stuff hanging on the walls. The banana cream pie was great.
