We went their In a 19 people group the service was fast and very pleasant. The corn/meat-ball soup was OK. And they served us the fried fish with head& tail complete.

We ate the Almuerzo lunch special with grilled trout and returned a second time for dinner. The food is delicious! Soups are outstanding and the medium rare filet minion was tender and perfect. The owner and chef, Darwin, serves each meal he prepares with care. This has become our favorite place to eat in Cotacachi

Went with a group of people for lunch. it was very busy but still service was quick. Found the steak meals to be good and people generally satisfied with quality and price.

We have eaten at this restaurant twice now and have been very impressed both times. The owner and his family are friendly, always smiling, and want to impress. Darwin is the chef, bottle washer, server, and all around go to guy. We asked him for drinks that were not on the menu and he hand blended two of the greatest... More

Veraneante is two or three blocks south of Leather Street (10 de Agosto) on Pedro Moncayo, which makes it "off the beaten path," I suppose, but it is absolutely worth seeking out. Five of us went for dinner last week, and the food was amazing. This was our fourth or fifth visit, but our friends had never been, and they... More

Although the almuerzo was pricey for Ecuador, at $6.50 per person, we had three choices for the main. Starter was a beautiful ensalada with tuna and avocado, then soup. The mains were trout, beef and another one, followed by dessert, (chocolate mousse) with a delicious juice. Clean restaurant with tablecloths. A bit slow would be my only minor complaint, and... A hidden gem in Cotacachi - this nice little restaurant has an excellent menu with items you won't find in other restaurants here. My husband had BBQ ribs (which we've never seen at any other place in town) and he loved them. The chef and his wife are lovely people and so nice. We recommend this restaurant highly.

The restaurant is now on Pedro Moncayo y Eloy Alfaro, and it is very nice. Our food was excellent, and the smiles and service were even better. There were 6 of us, and we all had different things. Everyone was very pleased with their food. The prices were reasonable in that 6 people ate and had wine and drinks for... More

The Ecuadorian chef was schooled in Columbia and at a Cordon Bleu school in Quito. His food preparations and simple presentation are not your standard "almuerzo" (lunch) fare found all around town. The restaurant is 3 1/2 blocks south of the main drag (locally called Leather Street) on Pedro Moncayo . . . but it is worth the walk. My... More

We went there many times and this restaurant is original ecuadorian food. The owner and cook has top knowledge about food and cooking. Very friendly. If somebody doesn't like the food in this restaurant than I have to say, this person doesn't know what she/he is talking about. The food is fresh made and that makes the difference. Our experience,... More
