This was our last stop in Manado before heading out to the airport for a noon flight. We got three nasi kuning (with egg, no chili) to go and paid 63,000 for it.
As non-indonesians, everything from the ordering to the wrapper was a pleasant...experience. Ordering was as simple as "how many" and "egg? chili?" The rice comes wrapped in a leaf and they gave us plastic spoons as well. When it came time to eating, the rice was a bit dry, but tasty. The meat was good and the egg - well, my daughter scarfed it up and loved it. The kids said it was one of the best meals they had the entire trip.
It wasn't easy to find, but folks on the street knew where it was when we they heard "Saroja" and there's a big sign over the restaurant. We would certainly go back. I'd like to try with chili next time!More
