This place has been around a long time and still excels at making pies and decorating for each season. The food is less consistent. French Onion soup used to be delicous; now just OK. I still like to go when not crowded but hard not to be disappointed. They sell lots of whole pies each holiday season. They are expensive... More

Potatoes are sliced with onions, all natural. No short cuts, full flavored and lots to choose from. Two huge cases of homemade pies, so many flavors. I had an egg sandwich with potatoes done the way I like them. Coffee cup always full, very accommodating. Not a fancy place, sign at counter says "what happens at Grandmas's stays at Grandmas's".... All comfort food, fantastic pies. Not "on the way" for most people, on Central Ave several miles east of Wolf Road on the north side of the street. Sometimes making a left if coming from Wolf is rough. But the hassle is worth it if you want to enjoy family comfort food.

I called to order take out lunch for myself and other office staff. I was placed on hold for 12-minutes. I hung up and called back, 4 times, only to have the phone ring off the hook. I drove to the restaurant, explained what had happen to the older gentleman behind the counter (phone was still off the hook sitting... More

Grandma's is the place we go when we have had a rough day or when we have something exciting to celebrate. For us, it really does feel like going to Grandma's house. The restaurant is often very busy and so sometimes there is a wait, but we never mind because the wait staff are friendly and kind, and there are... More

Having lived in Albany during the early 1980s. Grandma's was superb. The portions were generous, the food was fresh, the pies were magnificent. So when we stopped for dinner on a Friday night, The hope was for a blast from the past. Regrettably, this was not the case. I do not recall a less appealing, less appetizing, and less satisfying... Service is horrible. ....period. Seated right away. Had to find a server after waiting 15 minutes . Asked twice to get a refill . Obvious to me that the staff is not motivated . Let me say there was a total of 5 tables occupied in the place so not busy at all.

6 of us went to Grandma's for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We arrived around 9:30am and actually were seated right away. (we did notice that a waiting line formed shortly after) We enjoyed their omelets, muffins (which were very good), home fries, corned beef hash and the Granny Special. Our waitress was friendly and attentive to refilling our coffee... More

5 of us went out on Friday night and ordered dinner a little late for me but we got there and honestly had to wait for almost 1/2 hour for a waitress to come to our table, mind you it was not crowded at all and people came in after us and sat right behind us in a booth and... More

This was my second time here when staying in the area. First time had a very good experience with friendly and attentive staff and a good breakfast. This time the staff was not that friendly, just going through the motions of their job. Not attentive as far as drink refills and when I asked for a knife I never got... More
