My wife and I stopped by Shanga to tour the arts and crafts facility and decided to take advantage of their restaurant. What a great surprise! They offer a very good buffet style meal. BBQ fish and chicken, hot pastas and lots of fruit and salads. The tables are beautifully arranged outside providing shade and privacy. The beer was cold... More

While the River House is by no means cheap, it is a lovely place to spend a few hours away from the hustle and bustle of Arusha. We were in the middle of a 2 month trip in Africa and decided to spend a day at leisure in Arusha. We work up late, got a ride to the Shanga Shanga... More

We stopped here for a tour of the art and craft operation, followed by a leisurely lunch. The food was good with a nice variety of fresh fruits and veggies. A highlight for me was the well bbq'd fish, chicken, and beef. Nice attentive staff but service was a little slow. I need to learn to relax on holiday.

The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Also enjoyed shopping and touring the glass making and weaving facilities. They are doing a great service.

Stopped for lunch on our way to Lake Manyara. We were treated to a buffet of salads, breads and vegetables plus a selection of barbecued meats. On the advice of our guide we skipped the fresh salads and took only the cooked vegetables and meats. The food was palatable enough but not that memorable. The barbecued chicken and beef were... The atmosphere here is one of the best in Arusha and hard to beat. Set on green lawns under sprawling river trees on the edge of town, it was the perfect location for a relaxed Sunday lunch. Or so we thought. Sadly, the tranquility of the location was undermined by the waiters' haste to finish their shifts. I have to... More

Beautiful scenery, amazing food, wonderful smiling staff. Take the tour and see how they make stuff out of glass. This place is a must on your list!

We happened on this restaurant and were extremely pleasantly surprised. It is in a beautiful setting and feel very removed from the hustle and bustle of Arusha. They start the meal by offering complimentary champagne and the food is definetely upscale African. The setting is such that you can relax and simply enjoy. The only complaint was that we had... The restaurant and grounds are beautiful. I felt as though I was dining under a Chihuly creation, with the impressive chandelier overhead. Table setting was beautiful and food was great. Dessert was very creatively served. It is a perfect end to any safari.

Chicken, beef and fish barbeque style with fresh side dishes. We had a fixed menu as we were a group so we didn't have the champagne starter that others talk about. The grounds are very pretty. This was a lovely way to say goodbye to our safari mates.
