I found out about this on a couple of backpacker sites, and when I was in Chiang rai we asked a couple of the locals for a recommendation and they gave the same answer for veggies - oasis. Service and surroundings are a little basic, but the food and the cost is excellent. So many choices and all freshly cooked... More

This restaurant is the best vegetarian food in town! I kinda surprise how can they created the menu and cook it perfectly. Dun miss the Chinese noodle or we called 'Kuy Tiew Lord' ~ yum yum yum

This was a pleasant little find right near our hotel (The North Hotel). It worked on an honesty system whereby you got your coffee packet off the shelf and made your own coffee (yes, those dreaded three-in-one coffee mixes!); and ordered things from a vast range of vegetarian offerings on display - or they would cook noodles to order. You... More

Found behind the main stage of the night bazaar this vegetarian/vegan restaurant had delicious and varied food. Don't let the look deter you; the food is fresh and delicious. It certainly does not look like what you would expect of a "normal" western restaurant. I can only describe it looking like the cross between a shop, warehouse, cafeteria and truck-stop.... More

I have sympathy for a previous reviewer who had a vegetarian meal only to find it had fish sauce. All the vegetarian stir-fried vegetables you have had were cooked in the same pan used three minutes ago for stir-fried pork. But although this is a vegetarian restaurant, don't skip it if you eat meat. Things to say: 1 Very good... More

Unfortunately I discovered this place only on my last night here in chiang rai. It's near to the night market and it is open until 8pm. They have different dishes, all of them vegetarian. If you come late (like at 7pm) they give you the dishes so cheap because they have to close and it seems like they don't want... More

The Oasis is a vegetarian restaurant located at the back of the central bus station in downtown Chiang Rai. It offers a very large selection of great dishes, some of which I have never seen before in Thailand. The food is displayed in large trays, so it is easy to see and choose. The location is superb; the hours are... More

This place is amazing. The food is pre cooked in the morning and sits behind a glass counter like many Thai street places. There are so many dishes I had a second helping. It's also ridiculously cheap - you won't be disappointed I can assure you of that. If like me you don't eat meat and sometimes struggle finding real... More

After being served a vegetable dish covered in fish sauce I found this hidden treasure right next to my hostel the north hotel. The staff are so friendly and they have hot ginger tea! I had dinner there yesterday and dinner there today. It's cold or slightly warm but I trust it so it's my choice of eatery while I'm... More

This restaurant is run by a Kwan Yin (Goddess of Mercy or the Chinese Bodhisattva of Compassion) temple or meditation group judging by the posters in Chinese script on the walls. Austere decor, clean, if a bit drab and plasticky, with stark fluorescent lighting. Oasis has a wide range of pre-prepared dishes that you pick from behind a glass case,... More
