Run by hearing impaired people, this little cafe/tea house is an oasis of quietness and calm. The perfect spot to relax and enjoy a moment of downtime with a cup of Vietnamese coffee or pot of tea. A delight, both inside and out.

It was a revealing and pleasant experience to sit at the café in silence, the waiters were extremely kind, we kept whispering to each other when we left. :-) The passion fruit biscuits were delicious! This place is a must try!

Thank you for respecting the silence in our tea house. Sounds like the behaviour stuck for a while. Our staff are so appreciative of those who join them in their silent world and learn to communicate, even just a little by signing, gestures and smiles! More

A magical experience, where a tiny knowledge of international sign language goes a very long way! (Not necessary for a fab experience). Tried the 3tea tasting tray - divine. Brilliant staff. Also, visit the Reaching Out craft shop.

The first step into this teahouse is something special. It is so relaxing and beautiful and even romantic place. I could have spent a whole day here and just watch the people and communication. You don't always need words and loud speak for that. I ordered the tea tasting selection and very good lemon juice. They had some cookies as... More

We visited this tea house after going through the craft shop and it is absolutely amazing. The staff are hearing and speech impaired so the ordering is done by filling out an order card. There are printed wooden blocks to place on your table to communicate with staff. The coffee is amazing and comes with a little treat (cookies or... More

I found several places in Vietnam working to improve equality and diversity and this little gem provides a quality service in a beautiful and tranquil cafe in the heart of old Hoi An. Highly recommended along with its sister venture which sells artisan crafts produced on site and with skill by people with disabilities.

Chanced upon this little cafe, it is in complete contrast to the noise and bustle just outside. The staff have disabilities and it is so wonderful to see work opportunities. Of course you get the occasional idiotic tourist who talks loudly but most figure out that they don't need to shout here. The cofffe is yum, snacks are really good,... More

Yes, often when customers find us by chance, as you did, they do not immediately grasp the concept of a silent tea house. Most do, though, eventually find the tranquility very inviting. Thank you for your comments. We are happy that you enjoyed your coffee. More

Beautiful tea house with a great tranquil atmosphere. The staff are hearing impaired so this is a quiet tea house for obvious reasons. It was very relaxing to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and watch the street go by. Great tea and biscuits too. Highly recommended

Description
The Reaching Out Teahouse, a second location for our social enterprise, was created because we wanted to share authentic Hoi An (which means peaceful meeting) through the tradition of drinking tea and coffee with friends and visitors. Tranquility is assured in our ancient house furnished with antiques. Our servers are all speech and hearing impaired and the joy of silence is reflected throughout the experience. Customers enjoy the high quality of our teas and coffees as well as the gracious service. All of our tableware is hand crafted in the style of the imperial families of Hue and is available at our workshop and retail store a two-minute walk from the teahouse. In addition to ceramics, we feature embroidered tablecloths and unique accessories. Fair trade operating principles ensure that our disabled artisans and servers receive fair wages and work under safe conditions. We invite you to experience our teahouse and to let us know about your experience. We learn to make improvements to our products and services through customer feedback and good reports encourage others to find their way to our shop to enjoy the silence.
