Okay, let's be clear, if you want to dine, tnis is not your place. It's essentially a pub with bar snacks. There are no tables and the kitchen is in the next room. Given the layout, expect to talk to thenpeolpe you're sitting next to in whatever language you can both manage, There is an English menu but also a... More

Went here for dinner and sake, food was excellent and not too expensive. Friendly atmosphere thanks to the great staff and the other guests. The cozy old-style decor is charming too.

Tiny place. Not meant for tourists, but that's the good part of it! Just one of the staff could speak some English and somehow we managed to get something to eat. The dishes are amazing. They have very fresh sashimi and moreover some other meat and vegetarian dishes. The octopus is terrific. The sake served is from the region. Very... More

This is a small pub, with seating around a U-shaped counter. There seemed to be a large party being served upstairs but do not know if that area is readily accessible. There is an English menu with their standard items but daily set menus are not translated into English. Staff English is limited. We enjoyed the food & experience.

What a great introduction to Nara dining! Friendly staff and excellent food, beer and saki made for a most relaxing and enjoyable evening. We felt a little daunted to start - dark, traditional surroundings, shoes off before entering, but we were soon put at ease and spent a great night eating lovely food and watching the goings on around us.... What a great place to taste delicious Japanese food. Lovely and cozy atmosphere with many locals, friendly staff, beautiful old building, but most impressive is the food. The beef was so tasty. I never tasted anything like this before. I could not try all dishes but loved the tofu too. I wish u could eat there again

Kura is a fantastic little pub/restaurant in Nara, 10-15 minutes on foot from JR Nara station. Patrons sit around a U-shaped bar from which the servers offer beer/sake/plum wine and dish out delicious food, all at good prices. The main type of comfort food here is Oden, which is essentially cheap (100-150 yen) individual pieces pulled from a stew: deep... More

Really nice local pub, with excellent "basic" food and exceptional service. We came here via a recommendation online. The place is quite hidden and we were a bit unsure at first whether to go in. I'm glad we did, cause we had a great time! According to the owner, this establishment has been in the family for over 60 years.... More
