Great themed restaurant. Decorations and props of those times. Lots of space. Delicious food and presentation, pleasant service. Shish kebab is cooked right in the hall in front of your eyes. I advise you to see this place!

You are greeted by the sounds of farm animals when you walk into this rural Soviet-era inspired restaurant. Touristy and over the top? Yes. Enjoyable and great deal for money? Absolutely! Tasty food, friendly service and retro Russian vibe in the city centre. Thoroughly enjoyable.

First meal of my life on Russian territory. Dachniki is a dacha style restaurant: farm sounds at the entrance and furniture might remind you of some bucolic evening you spent as a child in the countryside. Food tasted good and was well presented even if...I have to admit that – generally speaking – Russian dishes' taste is quite plain/bland if compared to Italian food. Anyway, we truly loved our dinner! We had blini with red caviar, Oliver salad, a super awesome solianka soup and grilled meat. Overall a good dinner in a nice environment. Highly recommended!More

We wanted Beef Stroganoff and they served it! I asked for mashed potatoes instead of the traditional buckwheat and really liked it! Especially on a subzero day in January, this place on Nevsky Prospekt is affordable but it’s more than that: ambience and a glimpse...into Soviet life. Worth a visit!More

Basement decorated in Soviet style, both ambience (Soviet movies on TV) and names of dishes. Food is much better than then though. In September they had a special mushroom menu, and I liked chanterelle dishes (visited the place twice). Recommended if around.

Went with full family, ambience is Soviet style and have many typical interiors from -80 , really nice! Many different options of food, quality is good and we all were satisfied with our choices! My favorite is the starter “Seledka pod shuboj”!

We had been sight seeing all day & were all very hungry. Fortunately, we had reservations because there was a wait. Russian sister-in-law wanted to take us here for our last night to try some authentic Russian food. It was a surprise to find such...a large & almost underground type but cozy place after walking thru a very small & narrow entrance. It's off the main street of Netskly & unless you know exactly where it is you may miss it. The restaurant is very popular because it has is decorated like a Dacha, second home, & full of soviet era memorabilia, think rustic country home. We started with shots of Vodka. I got the cranberry flavored, others got the cherry flavored & my nephew ordered the horseradish flavored vodka, which he loved! For dinner I had the stroganoff over buckwheat. I had only had stroganoff over noodles and I love buckwheat so it sounded appealing. It was delicious! My Boo got the mix grill and it was flavorful. I can't really remember what everyone ordered except my brother who ordered steak again! There's lots of Russian memorabilia on the walls & we walked around to look at all of it. There was also a TV playing old Russian classic comedies. We enjoyed the restaurant & would recommend to others.More

After a day at the Hermitage we really wanted to try a nice typical dinner not too far from our hotel. This restaurant seemed to be quite nice and it really was. It's located next to a souvenir shop, with stairs taking down to the...restaurant which is below the street level. Very nice and cosy interiors, maybe representing a Russian rural environment. We waited just a few minutes to be seated. We took soups and pelmeni as starters and some meat dishes as mains. There is a charcoal grill were they roast kebabs and chicken. Everything truly tasty and well served. We will definitively consider it for the next nights.More

I wouldn't say food is bad, it's just under average, and clearly it doesn't worth the price asked ; there are so many better and cheaper places with Russian food, even in St-Petersburg (say Mama na Dache, Brynza, or Evrasia, which has more Russian specialities...than its name suggests...) Dachniki is kind of a Potemkin Village : every effort is ported to the look, and nothing more, as tourists flow is guaranteed by the location. I have been knowing this restaurant for 10 years now, and every year it's declining. This year I decided I won't give a good review. We were served after a long time, so our dishes came cold. Manager refused to apologise ; "I won't apologise as other guests are usually happy, you'd better go elsewhere" were her words, so now we go to other places. I understand positive reviews, but there are many better and cheaper places than Dachniki, even in Saint-PetersburgMore

Standard Russian fare on Nevsky. Pelmini was adequate and the lula kebob was quite good. Service on drinks (mors and tea) was incredibly slow. Reasonably priced. Good for a quick lunch, but wouldn’t go out of your way to make it here.
