Traditional as it can go, standard service and price. Nicely plate food, delicious and very tradition. Tried there twice, book ahead for weekend. Would love to go back and dine there again.

Really nice restaurant with an old Soviet atmosphere. Food was good and the prices were reasonable. Almost all of the staff spoke English.

Popular with locals--couples, friends, families and large groups-- and tourists [without being a tourist trap] in equal measure. The main menu is excellent in its own right but the Farmer's Menu has an amazing and very wide-ranging choice [duck patties, duck and turnip rassolnik, veal...More

The restuarant is well located in the 130th district. The service was very good with an extremely helpful and attentive waitress, Irena. Initially I was a bit sceptical with what looked like foreigners assigned to one section of the Restuarant and Russians to the other....More

Great food. Typical Russian food (a bit refined and well presented) in nice settings (pls Soviet style decor). Service was good, the waitress was helpful but was a bit odd. First they were not sure if there were tables when it was clear that there...More

Had a nice hearty meal today. Main meal focus was on local fish specialities, which were just great, name-soup (Rassolnik) was like grandma's. Vodka infusions disappointed a little. Overall - a good place to eat in the tourist center. Nice desserts and special teas.

This place got a good review in the Trans-Siberian Handbook, and since it was near our hotel we went there. As a previous reviewer has said, it's not easy to find - on a main road, but a small, unobtrusive door. I was expecting good...More

Located in the very heart of the Irkutsk city centre the place where despite modern influences the cozy and comfortable Soviet apartment still exists. Restaurant "Rassolnik" offers exceptional cuisine while you have a chance to feel the history here. Every interior detail is the museum exhibit which you can even touch or hold in your hands. The two restaurant halls present the most prominent attributes of Soviet flat: an old piano, a wooden rocking horse, the bust of Lenin and etc... The good old Soviet films are shown on a "Rubin" TV set and when it's off the guests are treated with the timeless music of everybody's beloved films. The restaurant menu also matches the Soviet times: the dressed herring, the chicken Kiev and of course the three kinds of Rassolnik - all homemade recipes. Moreover, the signature feature of the restaurant and its merit are dishes cooked with Baikal omul, cisco, grayling and assuredly with wild fowls. "Rassolnik" has special "Farm menu" which offers meals prepared only with eco-friendly products from local farmers. Restaurant "Rassolnik" recreated the atmosphere of an intelligent soviet family flat in the seventies. If you want to become better acquainted with peculiarity of that time, please come and have a look. Before entering the door close your eyes and leave the noisy century behind. Inside you will meet friendly neighbors and homemade food. Welcome to "Rassolnik"!
