It's a little pricey, being next to the west lake and famous! Food quality was not that great. Service was poor. We ordered cold beers on a very hot day. Half of the beers served were at room temperature. Waitress just said they were out of cold beers at that moment. No apology. But when we ordered from another waiter,... More

This restaurants has multiple floors, lots of people eat there as it's a famous restaurant at West Lake. Typical dishes: Dong Po Zhou (DongPo Pork), Xihu Chu Yu (fish)

Avoid it. This restaurant is notoriously overrated and is packed with local tourists. It has a tired menu with careless cooking. Hygiene standard is mediocre, to put its mildly.

Yes, you must try the wonderful West Lake Perch beautifully prepared here. We also tried the famous Beggar's Chicken. Delicious with the famous Longling tea.

Food here for the price and fame was underwhelming and plain. We had better food at other restaurants in hangzhou for much lower price. Service was quick being after 6pm when we arrived but the whole experience was of a cheap cafeteria food outlet, rushed, unpleasant and couldn't wait to clean or table as soon as we stood up to... This is a really good restaurant for 100% authentic Hangzhou food. It also has a great view of West Lake if you are able to snag a window seat (especially on the second floor!) However, it's too famous for its own good. There's never a time when the restaurant isn't busy and so the waitstaff are super apathetic and impatient... More

Came highly recommended and we went at the right time when the crowd has not formed, come late and be prepared to sit in Q and wait. The restaurant was not shy in letting guests know that patrons from the G20 Summit was here ! The food was average, in my opinion, and costs more. Service was a little poor... More

It's a must-stop on the West Lake Tourist Trail with world leaders from Nixon to the recent G-20 delegates enjoying a meal here. The Dongpo Rou (braised fatty pork) and the famous West Lake Cuyu (Steamed fish in a vinegar-based sauce) were both good, if overpriced. Recommend going slightly off-peak and try and snag one of the window seats on... More

Good represtation of Hangzhou food and certainly the most famous. It was tasty but lots about the restaurant fall short. There is a Chinese saying that the Emperor's daughter need not worry about suitors, place being famous doesn't worry about customers. The inside is a little shabbier than the outside would suggest. The service is nonexistent and in fact rude... More

The only saving grace was the beggar's chicken. If you're looking for Hangzhou dishes, I suggest you go elsewhere. Dishes here are way overpriced for the quantity and flavor. Service wasn't great either as the waiter was rushing us to order.
