The food here is great. I had a really nice chicken noodle dish that O would definitely recommend. The beer is good too.

This restaurant was next to our hotel, so we gave it a try one night. This is a very nice restaurant, with good food and higher then average prices. The service was good, the dining room / bar area was modern and open. This restaurant would be good for a nice occasion and a business person on an expense account.

We loved Iyemon Salon, it is elegant and quiet and the food and drinks taste great. Portions were not too big however well priced, not too expensive. Staff very kind and helpful: it is such a lovely place to relax. The only low point is that they don't have vegetarian choices but were happy to modify some dishes to make... More

Loved this place. Great service and amazing food. We went there for lunch and got the rice bowls and they were awesome. Also the dessert platter is amazing and all the staff were so lovely and helpful. Would really recommend this place for tourists (in particular because we were ripped off in other kyoto restaurants where they charged us 1000... More

This is a worth visit restaurant. I rarely say this, given that there is about half an hour waiting time, which is standard even if there are tables available. I think this gets you into the relaxing mode of the restaurant. The food is quite good, the service is excellent and the atmosphere awesome. Prices are low. Would i put... More

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
