We stopped here after a walk along the Philosophers' Walk. It was shortly after 6pm on Friday and there was no queue. The udon was fantastic, but also the other a la carte dishes were delicious (and very reasonably priced!). We had beef with vegetables and tuna with avocado, both 10/10. A superb dinner for two for ~4000 yen with... More

I really wondered what was the big deal with Udon but once you have it at Omen then I was sold. Especially the cold one which had the most incredible bite ever. Their other dishes are outstanding don't forget to order the baby shrimp tempura and roast beef.

Located near the walk of philosophers, small nice and simple restaurant. Friendly staff, some speak a little bit English, they also have an English menu. Food is really delicious, the starters (variety of small dishes) were extremely good, then the Omen noodles were very good as well. Be prepared to queue, but it is worth the wait! Highly recommend for... More

Easiest 5 star of our trip. Queued outside for about 20mins and completely understand why. Noodles and accompaniments absolutely delicious, as was tuna and avocado salad and chicken dish. Good value for quality and quantity. Restaurant lovely and service was excellent. Great lunch venue but would also be great for dinner. Wish we could go back!

When we walked south to north on the Eastern side of Kyoto, we stopped at Omen that takes no reservations. We arrived after 1PM and waited 25 minutes in line but it was definitely worth it. We started off with the grilled chicken which is definitely worth trying with the different spices on the table. We then both had the... More

I went here with my family, for dinner. We loved it so much much that we went two nights in a row! I had the omen noodles which were delicious (there are instructions on the table on how to eat them the recommended way, if you are not sure) We also shared some a la carte dishes which were amazing... We had the Omen udon and it was delicious! We're going back tonight to try the sushi. The interior of the restaurant and the service are inviting, comfortable and relaxed.

The place is at the end of Philosophy road, near Silver Pavillon (a must see!) in the north east part of the town. I had lunch in this simple, typical minimalist japanese style, cozy restaurant. The menu is not very long but all food is of very good quality. After a wonderful salad I had noodles and that was enough.... More

Visited twice. Once for lunch and once for dinner. The udon are lovely, nice consistency and taste. The dipping soup is well balanced. But the highlight are the vegetables accompanying the soup. The seasonal vegetables on the dinner menu, with a miso dipping sauce that reminded me of a chocolatey mole, are also fantastic! As is the tuna avocado salad... More

My family and I came here after visiting Ginkakuji. I learned about it from the Kyoto Lonely Planet. It sounded like a great lunch spot and we were delighted with the meal. For whatever reason, it was a little harder than expected to find, but we eventually got there. It was very busy. We put our name down for a... More
