The food here is very interesting and the dishes are full of imagination and creativeness. We knew what courses we ordered, had a choice of 4 courses to choose from that you must order when you make your reservations, but we still wondering what we were eating as the dishes arrived one after the other. Prices range from 4000 to... More

A very decent tofu meal in Kyoto! Ordered 2 yuu-tofu set lunch, as shown on photo, there was plenty of dishes of Tofu, and I was surprised with the soybean milk served before the meal! Best one ever tasted. People wrote pretty much about the taste of food, so I am not gonna enrich the content. But I can add... More

We booked Yuba Kaiseki Dinner course. It was presented beautifully in a great setting. However, my family is not a fan with the food. We love other Japanese food: sushi, sashimi, ramen, rice bowl...but not Yuba Kaiseki...unfortunately.

Very packed at noon, we wait for 45mn and it really worth it. With a temple like garden we have eaten at tatami with back support, yudofu was epic and genmaicha delicious. The service, as always was too much... Smiling, with patience, respect you smell respect everywhere.... and everywhere they thank you when you exit... A reference near Nanzen-ji and... More

The food was excellent and provided an insight into Japanese Cuisine. Each dish was served individually by attentive staff although their knowledge of English was limited. A great experience

We did not place to go here got lunch, but we're at the Nanzenji Shrine earlier as expected and we're finished around 2pm - so perfect for lunch. Found this place via the app and could not have been happier with the choice. Perfect service, excellent Tofu and delicious Tempura. Also the settings and location are stunning. All in all... More

In one set u get to try grilled, simmered, boiled, tofu in even tamago yaki. My favorite is the cold yuba (tofu skin) that i had for ala carte. Really enjoyed lunch and didnt feel too heavy after. Definitely a must try if you are in the area

Our hotel reserved us dinner for 8pm, the restaurant showed 7:30pm on their system. Their closing time is officially 9:30pm, so they accepted us and gave us only one choice of menu. The waitress was kind of ok, food was brought in all at once, was blend. We left at 9pm still there were some guests there. In the section... More

Ordered the fresh yuba (湯葉) set — “tofu skin” — which literally develops before your eyes on a heated dish of soy milk. Once the “skin” forms, you lift it with a bamboo stick. Tthe vegetable tempura is excellent. Light in flavour overall. The table next to us ordered a different set which also involves making your own tofu at... More

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
