We went here on a rainy day craving for Indian food. Don't confuse yourself with Kerala(a place in South India), the cuisine here is mostly North Indian. This place has good ambience and the food is fantastic. Not that tough on h wallet either. Recommended if you want a slice of India in Kyoto.

The owner was rude to us and said that we cant order only certain things and need to order a minimum of some amount. This was extremely disappointing and we felt bad. Rest assure we are never going there again.

Visited this restaurant with family for dinner as we were on the lookout for a vegetarian meal. Read online about Kerela, and we were looking forward to a good meal given the high ratings. But as if turns out, the ratings were misleading. The service by owner was dry, complacent and borderline rude. The wait was an excruciatingly long 45... More

We visited Kerala after needing a break from the Japanese kitchen and pork with almost no vegetables (shocking!!). So we read reviews on Kerala and saw the *star* in the lonely planet and decided to give it a go. The restaurant was full when we came in and we were asked to wait, which was fine. The welcome could have... More

Probably one of the better Indian restaurants in Kyoto or even in Japan. South indian dishes are served too.

If you really want to hear and observe rude behavior, then only visit this place. Out of many Indian restaurants visited during our trip to Japan, this one is the worst. Forget about food, we have to move out of the Resturant due to very rude behavior of the person who attended us (he mentioned himself as the owner and... More

We went there three nights in a row. The curries and (butter) naan are delicious. The owner made sure the curries were made exactly as hot as we wanted them. His English is flawless.

We dined twice at Kerala during a recent visit to Kyoto. The restaurant can become very busy after 7PM, so reservations are recommended. The selection and quality of the food is outstanding. Higly recommended, especially if you are looking for celiac friendly options.

Nice Indian food with many coastal specialties (e.g., mutton-vindaloo). Taste is good, service prompt, and prices reasonable. Tip: The Indian tea is not well-made and is quite milky - avoid!

If you feel like a break from Japanese food and have a craving for a decent thali, Kerala is your place. We had both the vegetarian and the non-veg thali for lunch, and they were good and, by Japanese standards, reasonably priced.
