We had their signature gyoza pan, their camembert cheese gyoza, green salad with crispy anchovies and a seasonal fruity sake. Everything was amazing, especially the gyoza. It was perfect for a cold winter evening. The place is run by two friendly Japanese ladies. They gave us a free appetizer since we had to wait over half an hour to get... More

We visited for dinner to try their amazing looking Gyoza. Really delicious, well worth a visit. Very friendly people and excellent food. The best Gyoza we've had.

On a very rainy December day we stumbled upon this absolute gem. If you're in Kyoto I can't recommend enough they were the best Gyoza of our trip! Apparently during peak tourist season you may need a booking but it's definitely worth the effort. The owner is a lovely lady who made sure we had a fantastic dinner and had... More

Went to Anzukko for a gyoza dinner and when I got there, there was no waiting line so that was a big plus. The place was nicely decorated and had a pleasant atmosphere. The place is run by husband and wife who provided an excellent service. There was an obliged cover charge of around 300 yen which covered a small... More

This is a very cozy restaurant with about 14 seats. The service of course was impeccable and the food was beyond delicious. We chose the prefix menu which came with plenty of food for two people. Well done with the gyozas. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

We came here after checking the reviews on TripAdvisor and we weren't disappointed. This little restaurant is doing everything right. The lady who I think is the owner was amazing, so kind and looked after us so well we came back another night. I highly recommend coming to this restaurant but make sure you come early as they fill up... More

My friend and I loved this place! The gyoza were great and the service lovely. We went for the tasting menu for 5000 yen for 2 and it was totally worth it! I highly recommend it!

This is an experience not to be missed. Anzukko is a small bar with seating for 20. It is always busy so you must book ahead. It is run by two chefs who have good English skills and there is an English menu with photos as well. Everything we ate from the small appetiser to the mains were fantastic. We... More

Anzukko is bit difficult to find off Kawaramachi-Sanjo tucked away on a side street on the second floor. Look for the red lettered sign on a lamp post (three up from the bottom), along with other signs mostly in Japanese but you may notice the black and white one for Hell’s Kitchen (three down from the top). We wished we... More

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
