Very friendly staff members and small cosy restaurant, it`s in the style of the early 80. but the food is very tasty and well prepared. To be a Japanese steakhouse it has a little bit of intercontinental style here they serve you baked potatoes and spinach soup that`s not the typical Japanese style but we was very happy with all... We went to this restaurant looking for a teppanyaki experience during a very cold night. I agree with most reviewers on the fact the staff is extremely friendly, the service is good and the quality is very good. We had the set menu (mid range) and we were satisfied with the amount of food served, the set include around 350grms... More

I knew coming to Japan I had to have teppanyaki at least once. I was recommended this place by my hotel. It is located in a beautiful street in Gion, Hanamikoji Dori. I found the restaurant to have a very relaxed atmosphere, the chefs are really there just to cook, not entertain, unlike what I find in American teppanyaki restaurants.... More

When I put the first piece of melt in your mouth steak into my mouth I immediately felt the precision and experience behind the hands that cooked it in front of me. The room I sat in was quiet and calm which allowed me to concentrate on the culinary experience. The staff was friendly and helpful and guided me through... More

When in Japan of course you must have the tappanyaki! The staff here are friendly. Remember, this is Japan, not your local Benihana. They cook your meal on the hibachi, they are not there to perform. The restaurant is on a great side street in Gion. It is a small place, reservations are required. You have 3 or 4 beef... More

Yes, the beef is good but I would not say it is worth the outrageous price. We had beef just as tender and more delicious at another restaurant for half the price. While the chef who prepared our food in front of us was friendly enough, the atmosphere of the restaurant is borderline uncomfortable. Only 2 other persons were dining,... More

While this was certainly not a cheap dinner, mostly all Hibachi in the area (Kyoto) is priced the same. If you're wanting the experience expect to pay for it, and obviously the incredible steak that comes along with it. For ¥8500 approx $85 per person we had an incredible soup, salad, steak dinner, dessert (and sides). Steak House Yoshida is... More

Ordered the 200g sirloin steak which literally melts in your mouth, and leaves you wanting more. Price point an issue, but otherwise overall attentive and enjoyable experience watching the chef prepare the meal in front of you.

Pompous, rude, ignorant and snorky place that doesn't allow children. No go for any decent people. The only place in Japan that have treated us in such bad manners so don't waste your time on this place if you have a family!

Very relaxed and enjoyable dining. we ordered a set menu (B of A,B,C) for 13000 JPY each: appetizer, salad, grilled veggies, baked potato, beef (3 cuts), tea, mandarin sherbet, coffee. I think the different options has to do with weight of meat. With a few beers we left with a 34000 bill...but a great experience, truly enjoyable. Oh and that... More

Staying in Gion

Neighbourhood Profile
Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko" in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners, Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the streets on their way to and from work, where they fan dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion lights up at night, when the ancient-looking streets glow with lanterns along the river, where weeping willows catch the starlight and the air is warmed with conversation. Groups pass through to populate the restaurants and bars along the riverfront, but Gion still manages to be a mostly quiet district, due in large part to limited automotive traffic through many of its streets. Gion is a wonderful place to indulge in Kyoto's local and customary cuisines, and is best enjoyed after dark.
