Close to our hotel we visited here on our first night in Kyoto. The service is really good and the atmosphere is also worth writing about. Wide menu choices and decent wine very reasonably priced.

We are great fans of Thai food with most of our experience in Hawaii but recently moved to Kyoto. Esan's Thai food was too watered down with weak flavors to our taste. The buffet was so so and ordered dishes were not what we know as real Thai food. Perhaps the food is modified for Japanese taste, which seems to... More

They were about to close but served us anyways, which was really nice. The green curry was excellent and the little salad that came with it was also good.

Had a great buffet lunch here. It is very close to the imperial palace of Kyoto. There was something for everyone. I came with my 11 and 4 year old. Both loved the chicken. They have several sauces to choose from. My favorite was the tamarind sauce.

Ate here after a tour of the imperial palace (it is walking distance). I ate their buffet which was reasonably priced and included a mint iced tea. The buffet had 4 major entrees to choose from along with plenty of smaller items to fill your plate with (including dessert). There were five sauces available which really enhanced the different foods... More

The restaurant has two different areas. First one a dining room and the other one a quiet rooms. This one is really curious for a european. I ate fried rice with prawns. Place is really nice.

My family - me, husband, and two college-age daughters - had dinner here and it was a nice experience. Menu has English for all items, has the typical large variety of choices including vegetarian, you can order a ala carte so you don't have to commit to a large meal, it is not expensive, and they serve beer and wine.... Staying in Nishijin District

Neighbourhood Profile
Nishijin District
A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto is still alive in the Nishijin District. Studded with its weaving factories, tea houses, and onsen, the neighborhood is charming and peaceful with a self-possessed air. Less traveled than other parts of the city, it is a district where you can take it at your own pace. Visitors can explore the many weaving and cloth houses, the free kimono shows, and the many shops selling traditional clothing and goods. Showcasing architecture with sloping roofs and wooden reliefs dating to decades past, the streets in the Nishijin District transport you back in time, making them a joy to wander.
