I will start by saying that I am not a huge ramen noodle fan but wanted to try it while in Kyoto. My husband and I both had ramen bowls that were fairly tasty and very filling. As someone who rarely eats ramen, it is hard for me to compare it to other options but based upon the lines, this... More

This restaurant went straight to my top 5 ramen restaurants around Kyoto after the first time I visited it. The burnt miso ramen was simply amazing. Keep in mind that you need to pay an extra 400yen per person after 7 pm. The environment was also relaxing and I would definitely visit again in the future!

A long queue even at 9.30pm. We didn't get to try other items on menu, sold out, we only had Ramen, almost 1hr wait. Special burnt Miso based Ramen was awesome.

My wife and I differed on the quality of the ramen, we both had the well recommendation see burnt miso ramen. I just simply loved it, I have never tried a ramen like this before. My wife instead didn't like it at all, she says the ramen was too oily and got tired of the smokey flavour quickly. We didn't... More

Came here for something light and had a congee with chicken and egg that costed ¥690 and ramen costed ¥890 yet we got charged an extra ¥400 per person for some sort of service fee that we have no idea about?! The girls English weren't good enough in explaining what this fee involves and honestly paying 1/3 on top of... More

We read all the reviews and decided to give it a try. But like most things hyped in Japan by western reviews, it is at best average compared to most truly local finds with only an English menu. We were charged a cover of 400 each for an appetizer which frankly was unnecessary. The rest of the starters were terrible.... More

We made a reservation as our concierge recommended this place.. the food was nice, but we have had better ramen throughout Japan, and the wait time is absolutely not worth it! Only try this if you are walking past and notice that there is no queue.

We were there on a Friday for lunch after shopping at Nishiiki Market. It was not far from the market and we relied on our GPS to locate this restaurant. There was a queue and we were famished so we accepted the offer to sit at the counter. We were there for the burnt ramen that travellers raved about so... More

If you love ramen then you have to try this place while in Kyoto. The burnt miso ramen is the specialty of this restaurant, and it is amazing. You will have to wait as there is a line outside for this popular ramen restaurant and it can be cold in the winter (it's worth the wait). Remember to write your... More

My son and I went for lunch on a Sunday. My son found a review on Yelp and after we got there, there were several locals waiting outside for a table. I knew we found a gem. After a short wait we were seated and ordered the Gogyo special ramen with pork. We sat at the front counter and we... More
