mantaro chavin peruvian restaurant has converted itself to a home based restaurant along 33 samar avenue near edsa next to metropolitan church of Christ. You can still expect the same dishes you ve come to love thru the years wirhin the setting of a home. the garage dining area can seat a party of 30 pax. dishes like the roasted chicken seafood rice ceviche and others have maintained their quality . even better prices have gone down a bit as the business can save in expensive restaurant rentals.

It's currently one of my favorite restaurants in Manila. The octopus, the lomo saltado and the chicken are our favorites, and the quality is consistent. We've tried other dishes too like the ceviche etc and they're really delicious too. The guyabano dessert -- that one depends on the person, I like it, but maybe not others. There are other desserts in the menu anyway. The servings of some dishes like the lomo saltado are generous too, especially for the price! The service is good and fast, no complaints there. The interior is nice and the furniture is simple, the resto's look is not mind blowing but no big deal, the food's really good!

Place is small in a boutique hotel about 7-8 tables only. You have 2 tables outside. The place is new with new paint odor. We had to move outside else we will be high before the food arrived. Ordered fish ceviche, the 🐙 octopus was out. It was fresh not whitish meat. No fishy after taste. The tenderloin that was the highlight not the chicken. It was salty citrusy, cooked well not over, and with the chimichuri., you can say bye bye to your diet. Chicken was I'd say same as the other popular places. Nothing extra ordinary. Plus 1 bottle of wine. It. Cost less than 2500 pesos. A winner Will come back for sure

Mantaro restaurant has reopened after a few months hiatus as Chavin Peruvian restaurant. Its located in the Cocoon hotel building along Sct. Rallos cor sct Tobias. This is quite near the original location from Elements sct rallos and along sct tobias years ago. The husband and wife team ensure that the quality of food has remained the same. Was able to the try pescado al ajillo again and the patatas fritas with their signature aji and chimichurri sauces. The ambiance is even nicer than before, with an area for a VIP room (under development).

I was able to try a new dish - salmon in lemon salsa sauce. Its grilled salmon, a generous serving with salsa, similar to what they usually serve for their ceviche. It has a refreshing clean taste. Always like ordering extra sauces such as chimchurri and the aji sauce to heighten the taste even further.

The chef has just introduced 4 new dishes. I tried the salmon with shrimp sauce. The salmon was large sized with shrimps and a sour sauce. The fish was well done and not overcooked , and the sourness of the sauce cut through the richness of the salmon. Shrimps were fresh. I'll try the salmon dish with dill another time. There are also 2 pork dishes being introdcued by the chef.

When I heard a native Peruvian says you’ve got to try this place as it’s great authentic Peruvian food, I had to try it! I was taken here by people who either are from or lived in Peru. The place in tucked in underneath a residential building, so not immediately visible from outside. The decor is homely and bright. But the food was absolutely outstanding! The fish cerviche was incredible, fresh with a great texture (watch out for the small red chillis!). Had the beef (lomo saltado) and the beef heart dish too, which were both cooked and seasoned perfectly. My favourite dish was the octopus with olive paste and crackers. Couldn’t stop eating it! The tres leche cake at the end was amazing. Very balanced sweetness and light texture. The service was good and English-friendly. Even though this is Manila, expect to pay Western prices. Ordering multiple starters and 2 main dishes for three people cost us about £38. The only real cons were they are “Cash only”, and its location on the borders of Quezon City (Dillman) isn’t very central (a decent taxi ride from Makati). I also tried a Peruvian drink, which was syrupy but not to my taste I’m afraid. There’s a lot of hype around Peruvian food at the moment, and this is an excellent place to try it.

We’ve patronized this restaurant since it was in the original location. The owners were always there to give personalized service and the food was always excellent. The original location was very cramped with only a small area which was air conditioned but the food was worth it! The new location is wonderful and there is a beautiful Peruvian mural which looks great in photos. The food is just as good and some of our favorites are the Lomo Saltado, Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken, Pescado al Ajillo, Arroz con Mariscos and Pulpo al Oliva. The Peruvian chef and his beautiful Filipina wife are still there to welcome patrons to their “home” and offer their delicious specialties.

The chef has just started introducing a few seasonal new dishes every few weeks or so. I was able to try the scallop rockeller(not the actual name); Pescado huzcaina among others. Gives you an extra reason to visit regularly to try these aside from the regular favorites. A fellow regular diner has even commented that their ceviche is better than the one she tried in Peru .

After 5 months Mantaro has finally reopened on its new and bigger location on 27 sct Rallos Elements place. With a bigger venue on the ground floor and ample parking, the ambiance is much improved over its previus sct tobias location. Tried my old favorite pescadoa al ajillos, the fish was soft with a crispy crust with plump shrimp. I would say it has improved compared to before. Cant wait to try ols favorites and new dishes they plan to introduce.

Peruvian Cuisine a must to try without regret! We enjoyed all foods that were served that was actually suggested by the wife of owner. Our appetizer Ceviche de Pescado has a twist of kilawin but not sour due to lime peruvian spice, Pulpo al Olivo an Octupus served with cracker is superb! A new menu on my taste bud. Roast Chicken with 3 dips is great... i loved most the green leafy olive oil-lemon dip, we even requested for extra. Saltado Lomo has very tender meat. Paella is good. Fish with Olive Oil and Shrimp is the BEST! The place is very simple looks like an ordinary canteen... but the food... look at the plating and most important outstanding taste! The verdict... Quality of Food and Customer Service is 5. Ambiance is 3, PWD compliance and Parking Space sad to say 0, Wash Room is 2. Hope to see this restaurant soon in a bigger venue...with parking space.
