This visit to Skylight was definitely worth the four hour round trip. The Skylight is a worthy icon for Eastern NC BBQ. These were my impressions. Atmosphere: Simple. Not a lot of sides. No dishes that will need washing. Friendly. Diverse and delightful guests. Fascinating...More

2nd visit here and the 30min detour off our itinerary is absolutely worth every minute. Top 3 pulled pork plates I have ever had, and that includes a lot of bbq.

Pete Jones' legacy continues! The absolute BEST wood cooked, whole hog BBQ you will ever eat. And the fresh home made slaw is the perfect side. Perfection 👍

If you like wood cooked barbecue with vinegar sauce famous in NC you'll love it.. Very informal. Old timey pan cooked corn bread and delicious slaw. Good Christian atmosphere.

This place is hands-down the best of the down east 'cue joints. It is rustic, relaxed, focused -- and provides amazing barbecue. The Jones family has done it right. They cook whole hog over wood and chop it perfectly (little flecks of skin and fat...More

Simple traditions done with excellence. I read lots of the other reviews and maybe modern commercial barbecue is confusing people. This is the real deal just the complex flavors of wonderful smoked pork following our rural farm traditions of making use of every morsel. Sauce...More
