Recommended by the hotel staff and didn't disappoint. However, when paying $31 for an entree, you expect excellence. We started with splitting one cup of lobster bisque and it had good flavor but no discernible pieces of lobster. We both had the crabster, which is a lump crab cake, three broiled scallops and a 5 oz lobster tail. Everything was... More

We can count on great food-consistently. My husband would go there every week, but I like a little variety. Fresh fish from the blackboard or you can order from the menu. Prices about $17 - $26. Very crowded; customers and wait staff can hardly move around the floor on a Friday evening, when we usually go. Also, parking lot pretty... More

My wife and I make special efforts to go to Hil-Mak when we are near Ashtabula. We have taken the opportunities the choose several different items and have never been disappointed. From walleye to swordfish.

This is one of the best seafood restaurants I have eaten in in a long time! I had a key lime haddock that was amazing. Crab cakes loaded with crab meat, calamari, great beer selection. Make a reservation! It was packed on a Wed. evening, but the food did not take long at all to be served. My mother had... More

On our trip to Ohio from California, our friends took us to Hil Mak for lunch. They had heard it was good. It was so much more than we expected. Very cozy, comfortable atmosphere with wonderful food and service. Loved the fried clams and the fresh baked dinner rolls especially. The garden salads and cole slaw were wonderful. The perch... Hil Mak restaurant ( and fish mkt) have been summer dining staples in our family for decades. You just don't get better quality, better prepared and simply excellent seafood anywhere. Yep, tuna, oysters and lobster on Lake Erie seems oxymoronic but I promise you! Give it a try and you'll love it.

I've eaten twice at Hil Mak's - once in 2014 and once recently. Unprepossessing from the outside, the ambiance inside is unusual - poor lighting makes it very dark, there are stuffed fish and nautical bric-a-brac all round the walls interspersed with interesting photographs, and its freezing cold (so cold that even with the outside temperature in the 80s, we... Haddock was fluffy, scallops perfectly cooked in this buttery delicious Lobster Bisque. Definitely a great meal with family!

Best seafood in Ashtabula! And delicious rolls lol (I love carbs). Very friendly waitress and definitely one of the many good places to eat on Bridge Street!
