Came in about 6:30 Wednesday evening, 7 February. Seated us promptly and took our drink orders, which arrived within 2 minutes. I had the salmon which was done perfectly. They put the dressing on my wife's salad after she had requested it on the side....More

Had a great meal with two couples. All of our meals were great from the fixed menu. We had great service from Nicole. The desserts were especially good with the chocolate creme brûlée as a special treat.

Christmas dinner while we traveled to Big Bend. We had not made reservations, so I do suggest all diners do that. We happened upon the restaurant while purchasing groceries....makes sense right, buy food and then go out to eat!! ha We were seated in the...More

I thought, "what a cool restaurant", but I learned the hard way. I had had steak two nights before on the road traveling in our RV, at good restaurants, but I didn't want a steak so I ordered, "Chicken and Dumplings and a dinner salad"....More

We stumbled onto the Renata Restaurant in Alpine recently and stoped in for lunch. What a great find. Lots of local families and other tourists have discovered this place. We had sandwiches and soups that were great. French fries were hot but limply. Our neighboring...More

Nice environment for an evening meal. It can be busy at times. Check in advance to see if you need a reservation.

Service was great and it's a cool place. Food was underwhelming - BLT was cold and I'm pretty sure the cheese was velveeta. Not sure how it's rated as well as is. A local told us to avoid anything Mexican on the menu.

We totally enjoyed dinner at this quaint place. Try the sour cream and chicken enchiladas. The service was excellent.

A wonderful lunch after A long train ride. Melissa was our helpful friendly server. She gave great advise - I had the chili relleno which was amazing and hubby had a burger with the jalapeño Mac and cheese (also amazing)! We wanna come back...

Description
The original Reata Restaurant located in the scenic Davis Mountains of west Texas offers the same fine dining and Legendary Texas Cuisine you can find at the Fort Worth location. Alpine, home to Sul Ross State University is near Texas tourist destination Big Bend National Park and the towns of Marathon, Fort Davis and Lajitas. Alpine is also a short drive from Marfa, Texas renowned both for the mysterious Marfa Lights and Donald Judd’s Chinati Foundation. Reata, named after the legendary ranch in the James Dean classic movie, “Giant”, which was filmed in nearby Marfa, boasts the same high quality Southwestern dining you can find in Fort Worth. This is not food for the faint of heart, from Chicken Fried Steak to Calf Fries or the Pepper Crusted Tenderloin and Cowboy Rib Eye Steak, this is a dining experience not to miss. Today, Reata Alpine remains a true destination restaurant, attracting loyal diners from miles beyond the charming converted farmhouse where our Legendary Texas Cuisine was born.
