Excellent food and service in a historical setting. We eat at this restaurant every time we travel near Alpine. It's best to make a reservation particularly for dinner.

What a find in a small town in Texas. Southwestern style menu cooked and presented in 5 star fashion. Cowboy hats off to the staff and chef for a fine dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere.

Great food and great ambiance. Sitting under the wisteria covered pergola was perfect for a relaxing even meal with freinds. Dolly, our waitress, was perfect!

Reata is still my favorite dinner or lunch option in Alpine. My steak was cooked perfectly. Staff is great. Bartender knows her craft.

We've eaten dinner here a number of times and always enjoy it. My favorite is the beef tenderloin and hubby likes the citrus crusted chicken. The vegetable plate is great, enough for two. Nice basket of bread includes Pecan biscuits and jalapeño corn muffins. For...More

I had the Tortilla soup and Carne Asada and a Reata margarita. The soup was great, lots of flavor. The Carne Asada was tasty as well. Another guy at the table was able to cut his with his fork, I was unable to but it...More

The tenderloin tacos are unique and fabulous. Also enjoyed the special rice with corn, also very unique. Creme boule is out of site. Service and atmosphere can not be beat. Best restaurant within 100 miles (maybe 200).

If this restaurant was where I live, I can honestly say that I would eat there all the time. I can not brag enough about how delicious this food was (which frankly I did not expect much since Alpine is really out in the middle...More

Description
The original Reata Restaurant located in the scenic Davis Mountains of west Texas offers the same fine dining and Legendary Texas Cuisine you can find at the Fort Worth location. Alpine, home to Sul Ross State University is near Texas tourist destination Big Bend National Park and the towns of Marathon, Fort Davis and Lajitas. Alpine is also a short drive from Marfa, Texas renowned both for the mysterious Marfa Lights and Donald Judd’s Chinati Foundation.

Reata, named after the legendary ranch in the James Dean classic movie, “Giant”, which was filmed in nearby Marfa, boasts the same high quality Southwestern dining you can find in Fort Worth. This is not food for the faint of heart, from Chicken Fried Steak to Calf Fries or the Pepper Crusted Tenderloin and Cowboy Rib Eye Steak, this is a dining experience not to miss.

Today, Reata Alpine remains a true destination restaurant, attracting loyal diners from miles beyond the charming converted farmhouse where our Legendary Texas Cuisine was born.
