We thought we were going to have to eat fast food, but stopped in this place after walking by before they opened. It filled up quickly so we timed it just right. Great atmosphere, service and food. We were very pleasantly surprised!

We sat on the patio for dinner. My wife had the vegatable plate and raved about it saying it was one of the best meals she has had ever.

Every motorcycle trip to Alpine equals at least ONE meal at Reata! My dish of choice is always the BBQ Shrimp Enchiladas. OMG. The best ever!

Great place for a romantic dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the rustic but elegant atmosphere. The food and wine was good and the staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend making reservations especially on weekends.

Close to lunch closing time. Burgers were thick and hearty, maybe a little too much for lunch. Waitstaff was uninterested, unfriendly, and as if we were in the way of closing.

Quite honestly, we ended up here after finding several other choices closed for dinner, but ended up glad we chose this one. Restaurant is small and busy, but we got one of the last tables in the bar area. Shared the onion ring appetizer, then...More

Reata welcomed us to Alpine during our one-night stay before heading to Big Bend. It calls itself a place a cowboy cafe, which is, of course, completely charming. You walk in to a rustic looking house and are greeted with cowboy paraphenalia -- my favorites...More

Description
The original Reata Restaurant located in the scenic Davis Mountains of west Texas offers the same fine dining and Legendary Texas Cuisine you can find at the Fort Worth location. Alpine, home to Sul Ross State University is near Texas tourist destination Big Bend National Park and the towns of Marathon, Fort Davis and Lajitas. Alpine is also a short drive from Marfa, Texas renowned both for the mysterious Marfa Lights and Donald Judd’s Chinati Foundation.

Reata, named after the legendary ranch in the James Dean classic movie, “Giant”, which was filmed in nearby Marfa, boasts the same high quality Southwestern dining you can find in Fort Worth. This is not food for the faint of heart, from Chicken Fried Steak to Calf Fries or the Pepper Crusted Tenderloin and Cowboy Rib Eye Steak, this is a dining experience not to miss.

Today, Reata Alpine remains a true destination restaurant, attracting loyal diners from miles beyond the charming converted farmhouse where our Legendary Texas Cuisine was born.
