When I told a few people I would be staying in Alpine, everyone of them told me to eat at Reata. And I am grateful! I consider this part of the state to be kind of "the middle of no-where" (no offense to the locals)...More

We arrived with high expectations having dined at Reata in Fort Worth. In addition, it was the second restaurant recommended by the Park Ranger at Ft . Davis. Had reservations and was quickly seated in a good "spot." The waitress was friendly and attentive until...More

Best place to eat in Alpine, Texas or anywhere close. The food is spot on, consistent, and always presented in a pleasing manner. If you like Texas, you will love Reata.

My wife and I ate here for my birthday. I had ordered the chicken fried steak, but ended up with the chicken fried chicken. Was not a problem because the CFC was excellent. For birthday and special occasions you get your choice of free desert....More

Born and bred in FTW I made an assumption that this restaurant I would love as much as I do the FTW and DFW airport location that is friendly fast and has a lot of TX specialties. Visiting family in Alpine we had dinner here...More

We had lunch here since we are from Fort Worth and eat at there restaurant all the time. The menu was pretty much the same and the food was just as good. Do go there if in Alpine.

Had the jalapeno and cilantro soul here with a Reata salad and wow. Absolutely delicious! And reasonably prices to. This place has charm, friendly staff and good food.

A friend recommended the Reata. Glad we went. Exercise food. Great service. A little more pricey than what we expected, but large portions and well worth it. Nice little historical home with a lot of character.

Good food but when a salad cost over $15 it is expensive. The decor is western but for the cost it has little ambiance. Not a romantic restaurant. The rolls and pecan biscuits were very good. Herb butter was good but honey butter would have...More

Description
The original Reata Restaurant located in the scenic Davis Mountains of west Texas offers the same fine dining and Legendary Texas Cuisine you can find at the Fort Worth location. Alpine, home to Sul Ross State University is near Texas tourist destination Big Bend National Park and the towns of Marathon, Fort Davis and Lajitas. Alpine is also a short drive from Marfa, Texas renowned both for the mysterious Marfa Lights and Donald Judd’s Chinati Foundation.

Reata, named after the legendary ranch in the James Dean classic movie, “Giant”, which was filmed in nearby Marfa, boasts the same high quality Southwestern dining you can find in Fort Worth. This is not food for the faint of heart, from Chicken Fried Steak to Calf Fries or the Pepper Crusted Tenderloin and Cowboy Rib Eye Steak, this is a dining experience not to miss.

Today, Reata Alpine remains a true destination restaurant, attracting loyal diners from miles beyond the charming converted farmhouse where our Legendary Texas Cuisine was born.
