Franklin is not good nor bad... It is strictly average... Now lots of people will have issues with that but it is just as tasty and greasy as most places in the Austin area. Flavor is ok I guess but there are many others in the area where the wait is not as long and the food is not as... More

you HAVE to show up early. Although they close at 2, they run out of food way before then. Be prepared to wait at least three hours on the weekend. The brisket just melts in your mouth here. Well worth the wait if you have time.

I read all of the negative reviews about the wait time at Franklin BBQ so I was well aware of that going in. I went with a group of 6 people and we just made the best of it. They do have portable seating and umbrellas available (you can see them stacked up underneath the staircase). I do commend them... More

Much better bar-b-q places in Austin and you don't have to stand in line forever to possibly be told they are out. I don't do that for any food. This place is over rated big time.

The Austin area has many fine Barbeque restaurants, in fact my family and I have tried barbeque all overAustin, Lockhart, Buda during the past eight years. Standing in line for most of an hour to order food at Franklin's food trailer was not worth it; especially for the quality of food we received. Will not happen again with my family.

Grab a few beers, post up with a chair, and chat with the crowd. Get there early (before 10 am) and expect to spend 2-4 hours in line but the BBQ will be great and the Brisket will be moist!

Incredible taste! Wasn't going to wait several hours so we called in our order. No lines for take-out! Best way to enjoy this awesome BBQ!

We ordered a cold (precooked) brisket 6 weeks ahead for Christmas dinner. Pickup was quick and easy. Reheating instructions are very straightforward and the brisket was the best we've ever had. We will be doing this again for sure, especially with out of town visitors. For ordering ahead the min amount is I think 5 lbs so it's great for... More

Franklin's reputation precedes it. No matter what time you get there on most days, you will wait about 5 hours in line to be served. But that's what makes it an Austin event destination. If you bring a chair, music and some food and drinks to share, you will have an enjoyable day and make lots of friends. One advantage... More

Truth be told--I didn't have to wait in line as I was attending a private event at Franklin. I'm sure I ate some sides, but all I remember was the superlative brisket and sausage. I've tried every BBQ place in Central Texas plus some places in Kansas City, Dallas, Memphis and North Carolina--and Franklin Barbeque is easily in first place.... More
