Management is MIA at this cafe. I called four days in a row, at varying times during the day, to schedule a birthday party for nine people. The person answering the phone was nice (same person three of the four days), and told me it's possible to make the reservation but it requires a manager's password. The manager was never... More

Went for breakfast one morning and also stopped in a couple of times for coffee and baked goods. Everything was pretty good. Nothing was spectacular. But a nice option to have when staying at the Driskill.

Keep in mind there are no reservations at 1886 Cafe & Bakery so plan accordingly. We were advised to come around 11am after the early rush. We did and waited about 30-40 minutes for a table for four. We were meeting friends we had not seen in years so we had plenty to talk about while waiting. Once seated our... More

We were really excited to try this place in the historic Driskill hotel. The service was awful and the food was salty. We never got coffee refills and paid 3.25. I tried to order a croissant but our waiter was mia. Skip this for all the other great brunch places around.

The 1886 cafe is part of The Driskill Hotel. Beautiful layout and very central location. My breakfast while staying at the hotel was included so this was obvious choice. I did however come back here for a lunch with colleagues as the food was so good. Everything is fresh and the venue is quiet enough to have a discussion and... More

This little spot was great for breakfast. The atmosphere was nice and so was the staff. Coffee was tasty and it really helped recover from the night before on 6th street...

I had the pecan waffles which came with syrup, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, pecans and a blueberry jam. Presentation was excellent and the food was great. Hubby had pancakes which looked like a stack of 50. Coffee was good and service was great. They had lots of sweets, but a few healthy options.

One of the main reasons I look forward to go back to Austin. Quality in every sense and a great atmosphere.

We went to Austin for the Formula 1 and as you can assume most hotels have breakfast... However... We wanted to explore Austin, walk the streets and find something along the way. We walked into 1886 and we were very impressed with the architecture, and the restored beauty of the gorgeous building. The service was excellent, the food was divine... More

Lot of history at this cafe attached to Hotel Driskell on 6th St. Good place to wind down after 6th St. activity. Very high ceilings and very good options on the dessert menu. Tried the peach cheesecake that was recommended and the banana split. Both were excellent. Cappuccino was great too. Great service - ask the server for the history... More
