The food was great and the service very good! Love the history of this place also, a must go in Austin! Did I mention all those beers to choose from too?

During visit to Austin we went to Scholz Garten for German food as name indicates. We were surprised they also serve Tex-mex and barbecue. We stuck with the German and enjoyed the Wiener schnitzel and jaeger schnitzel which were very good along with sides of red cabbage and German potato salad. The restaurant is in an older building with wooden... More

My husband and I took a ride share here for a quick bite to eat before an event. Upon entering the garden area we noticed a small party going on near the stage. In the back of the patio area near the outside bar there was seating available which is where we ended up. We ordered a beer at the... More

Historical hangout for University of Texas Longhorns fans before and after sporting events. The bar is over 100 years old and worth checking out and menu contains some authentic German cuisine. The food is good. Nothing fancy here where you can sit inside or outside. There seems to be a band playing outside where a small permanent stage is setup.... More

I hadn't been to Scholz's more than twice since my college years when I hung out there multiple times a week since it was only three blocks from my dorm. When I found myself just a stone's throw (with a good arm) away on a business trip, I had to go. It is still a great place to hang out... More

You have to go here to see where all the movers and shakers of old Austin drank. The bar is very impressive with it's size and history. The building is amazing. But, if you order the food, expect it to taste like the floors.

Oldest establishment in Austin, but so is the food. The fries tasted like they were made a week ago. Stay clear of the German food, it tastes terrible and is way overpriced.

Stopped for lunch after walking around the campus and visiting the Bullock State Historical museum. Friendly staff. BBQ sandwich was good with a good beer selection. Be sure to stop when in Austin.

We stopped here for beer, pretzels and dessert, and were not disappointed. The pretzels and accompanying dipping sauces were out of this world, and we ordered another as soon as we finished the first one. Great selection of draft beer, and pies can come ala mode with Mexican vanilla ice cream. Will definitely be back when we go back to... More
