My husband and I stopped in after walking around the UT Austin campus. We started with the brisket nachos which were so good. I got the catfish basket (fried catfish, fries, hush puppies and cole slaw - so much food!) and my husband got the...More

I went here on a recommendation from a docent at the Capitol Visitor's Center. I was told it is an historic place, a movie was filmed here, and politicians frequent it. The building appeared to be landmarked. I ordered a curry wurst and, although I...More

We ate lunch here and decided to sit outside since it was a nice day. The outdoors part is nothing special and everything is pretty much self serve. The brat was ok but that was just it. The side dish of sauerkraut was ridiculously small...More

A historic restaurant near the University. This was our first stop after landing in Austin. Most of the group enjoyed Chicken and Waffles, the others bratwurst. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Wish we could have stopped there again, but we were on our way to Waco.

Looked forward to eating here as I am of German descent. What a disappointment. No sauerbraten, no schnitzel only brats. Lunch special was chicken and waffles. LMAO. Won't be back here again.

Have eaten here several times over few years -- it's full of history, part of "old time" Austin, and very good food. Everyone should eat here at least once -- just to walk on the hallowed ground of Great BBQ and Austin Political haunt in...More

A new company has taken over as Scholz Garten, an abbreviated menu for now. The Curry-wurst is excellent, as is the Bratwurst.

Back to this restaurant again after a long absent. Still ad good as ever. Nice atmosphere and very friendly service. Plenty of beer to choose from. They also have special daily lunch menu. Like the decor and the toilet doors. Will certainly go back again...More
