Until we found the Shallow Shaft, we thought we were in the land of big snow and cooks but not chefs. The Shallow Shaft has a true chef, and every dish we tried from bison to pasta to cheese plate to veggies was delicious! Nicely balanced flavors, with fresh ingredients. Also notable was the warm friendliness and professionalism of all... More

Our Server was Peri. A great Greek! We love the Greeks! Peri gave us great advice on wine pairings, as well as plates. We treat ourselves to a dinner at the Shallow Shaft once a year. To bad we do not live closer. What a treat!

With a very short notice, I reached out to Kristyn at Shallow Shaft with the request for a private environment with a world class view and menu to propose to my then girlfriend (now fiancé). Kristyn was incredibly accommodating, friendly, and equally enthusiastic! The dining experience was excellent, we had flowers on the table, and I had my story book... More

We took a spring run up the hill to the Shallow Shaft and were rewarded with a fabulous dinner with great views. Note: We went up on April 9, which was the week before they closed until summer season. As with many of the ski-resort restaurants, you have to make sure that they are open in spring and fall. Due... I've eaten at the shallow shaft several times over the years and have always found the food to be good despite the decor that's stunningly old fashioned. yes, there are antiques that reflect the mining theme but it feels as if it was built and decorated in the 70's and that's the way they like it, if you know what... If your looking for a romantic dinner away in the mountains of beautiful Utah you have to try Shallow Shaft. I highly recommend making a reservation to get seated in the front room, the views are phenomenal, especially around sunset. It does get a little toasty around sunset, even during the winter months if your seated near the window. The... More
