Columbia Firehouse not only has excellent food and atmosphere, but it also has an amazing event space perfect for a wedding and/or reception! On the day of our wedding the second floor "Chop House" was set up in rows of chairs. Then, everyone migrated to the third floor, "Wine Room" for delicious hor devors and cocktails while the staff transformed... More

We found this gem by accident, wandering around Old Town looking for a place for brunch with cocktails. Initially we weren't totally sure it was a restaurant. It was adorable. We were able to sit outside in the garden, which was absolutely lovely on a warm fall afternoon. My mimosa was the perfect opening. A friend got the special Bellini... More

I went to the Columbia Firehouse with my family of 11 for a birthday dinner. We were first there when it opened. We did not get our entrees until an hour after being seated. I ordered the scallops and a side of greens. The amount that came out should have been the kids plate. There were 3 medium sized scallops... More

I go here for the steaks and ambiance... But the scallop dish and the mussels are good. At the old style bar I've gone with the ham biscuits and oyster sandwiches several times. Nice location just off the heart of Old Town. Friendly staff. Still a favorite after years!

We attended an evening social event, our first real outing in Alexandria. On entry, I was amazed at how beautiful it was. Lots of dark wood, ambient lighting, really loaded with character. It was not at all a 'stuffy' atmosphere, as many of the patrons were in jeans and other casual wear. The bartender for our event was friendly but... More

I did enjoy my evening and my food was pretty good. I had the pappardelle with the bison short rib. I know we taxed the kitchen as we were 11 in our group. I am sure that had something to do with the service gaps. They forgot one appetizer completely which they then graciously served us gratis. But one salad... More

We dined here during Restaurant Week at the end August and enjoyed our evening. Beautifully converted old firehouse, great service, and our entrees were delicious. (My husband and I both enjoyed the Chophouse Filet, greens, and fingerling potatoes. (although the menu indicated they were "smashed" but they were served whole.)) My Virginia Ham and Buttermilk Bisuit appetizer was tasty but... More

Great service. Good food. The place was pretty empty as it was late but the meal was ready for a to-go in no time and the bartender was quite pleasant and welcoming.

We went for the Happy Hour. After all the place has changed ownership twice in the last 5 years. We found it to be a quiet place for drinks and conversation - no loud TVs bothering anyone. The waitstaff was very attentive and quick. We asked to see the dinner menu and decided to take a chance. We weren't disappointed!... More

Had dinner here on Labor Day. Restaurant was crowded so it was a good thing that we had reservations. There were 4 of us plus a 2 year old! The staff were very accomodating, and this is a place that I would not hesitate to bring children to. The food was average with good portions. We started out with the... More
