This restaurant is located in a strip mall in an commercial area of Alexandria. But the food is authentic, well cooked and nicely served. You will enjoy the satay and wonder why you have not been here before!

Satay Sarinah is one of the very few restaurants in DC Metro that enchants the clientele with fabulous Indonesian dishes, notable are Chicken satay and beef curry. After all, Indonesia is one of the most authentic places in the world for exotic spices. The bad news is that their restaurant in Alexandria is now closed and they are looking for... More

Having enjoyed this Indonesian restaurant over the years after it relocated from DC, I was sorry to see that it had closed. An Indian restaurant now inhabits the property.

I just returned to the DMV after living in Indonesia for three years and was craving some good Indonesian food. After reading other reviews I was excited to make the drive from MD to Alexandria. I invited an Indonesian citizen who was visiting the area who also was craving some home cooking. We did not enjoy anything that we ordered.... More

Had quite a few dishes and they were all excellent. Prices are cheap, quantities are generous, service is friendly. Located in a strip mall with lots of other international cuisines - Thai, Korean, Chinese, Ethopian, Vietnamese, Tex Mex

Satay Sarinah is a nice reminder of the good food you can get in Indonesia -- The beef rendang and the ayam bumbu rujak are tasty and you can ask to have the "fire" adjusted to your taste. I like it spicy and that's what I got. The satay ayam and laksa are alone worth the visit. Friendly service in... More

Learned about this little place which I had lost track of over the years as I was in and out of DC area and it moved from Georgetown to Alexandria. I'm in love. Ordered rendang and chicken satay as carry out for me and my family. Enjoyed a beer and a chat at the small bar and then headed home... More

I have spent a lot of time in Indonesia and have tried many Indonesian restaurants in North America that claim to be "authentic". One in New York, for example, was just another undefinable, Asian eatery (good but not authentic) and a few others scattered around the country. Satay Sarinah is as close as anything I would have eaten in Jakarta,... More

I found this place on Google, and I thought this was the closest Indonesian restaurant around Washington, D.C. area. It took 30 minutes driving from the Northwest area of Washington, D.C. However, the place was simple. The food was delicious. "Satay" is their signature dish as it is on their name. Their fried rice "nasi goreng" was excellent. The waiter... More
