This fantastic old bakery / tea shop is brilliant to look at. You can wander inside, buy cakes etc to take away or sit inside and have a drink and snack. It is as it was 200 years ago and really worth a look- though it's...More

Beautiful Belle Epoque tea room in the heart of Rio ! Enjoy lunch in this 'special' restaurant (we had 2 excellent dishes : Caesar salade and quiche) while you admire the special interior and 'grandeur' or just hop in for an afternoon tea. Although there...More

It's a very unique place, with antique style, a lot of mirrors and many delicacies to try, right in the middle of Rio de Janeiro's downtown. It's like having a cup of coffee in the emperor's times, a really vintage atmosphere that's what make the...More

This is a Rio institution. The place is beautiful and the drinks and pastries legendary. It’s not even expensive. A must if you are in Rio and have not been before (or if you have!)

A must stop in order to experience the "poshiness" of Rio. Made a quick stop during my city center exploration. It's nicely "hidden", in one of the narrow streets in the center. It's big, splendid, crowded, you can really feel the past. Very close from...More

Our tour guide told us about this place, just off the main square on Rua Gonsalves Dias. We had an excellent buffet lunch on the upstairs dinning room. The atmosphere is old world elegance somewhat reminiscent of the colonial era. The food and service was...More

Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born.
With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical
buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living
proof that the old and the new can live together
harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where
all major companies house their offices. However, the
region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like
