It's a place you can go to with someone referring you since it's a narrow street and I did not see any sign at the door. The restaurant is located on a upper level from the street and its very discreet. The street location is behind Sao Jose Church on Av. Presidente Antonio Carlos and it's from a walking distance... We went here for dinner. The menu is a fixed price menu and it is so worth the cost. The dishes were exquisite and must have included 10 courses. By the end I couldn't eat any more!! It is a little hard to find the entrance, but if you ask around the surrounding bars, locals will point you there.

Hachiko was one of our favorite restaurants during our stay in Rio for the Olympics. The set courses were excellently prepared and served quickly, but still took almost 2 hours to dine. Be sure and get sake with your meal, goes wonderfully. Hachiko is easily our favorite Japanese fusion restaurant that we've ever been to, and we go to a... More

Really great fusion between Japanese and Brazilian. Not only fish, also meat. High level at about 55 euros - 65 dollars per capita. Only cons: dishes arrive one after the other and don't let you take your breath. Worth visiting it.

We have been to four other Japanese restaurants in Rio de Janeiro but Hachiko is definitely the best. It's located in Centro near the state legislature and is busiest during lunchtime. We had a leisurely dinner there on a Saturday night. There is no set menu but instead a twelve course tasting menu prepared by the chef. The offerings are... More

This is a fusion restaurant inspered by japonese and asian cousine. I took my mother for dinner there on her birthday and we were delighted by the quality of the food and service. They offer a tasting of hot plates in between the cold dishes and both combine very well. This should be a mandatory restaurant for all at least... More

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
