It was a table for 10. So I will be light on the time taken to serve the food, but a 3 hour lunch I thought it was a little too much. The food was great , but the sommelier needs an improvement. Before we ordered the wine it was asked how many bottles they had, and it was told... More

Everybody liked the fois gras, the cheese and most of their dishes: escargot, canard, trout, but I wasn't very lucky with my salad: very little green and too much roasted almond and walnut! The dessert crepe was okay. The place looks "traditional" and our bill was quite high.

Hello Beatriz, Thank you for your review. We're sorry that the salad you ordered wasn't up to your expectations and - even though it's intended to be a starter and not main course -, we can assure that we will double-check and review our standards with the kitchen to ensure this won't happen again. We're also happy to know that... More

Good things never vary. This restaurant has been going for so long and yet it is still very popular and excellent. We were in 4 and everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was excellent and the surroundings wwith the fower market in front make it very special, The wines are a little on the "stiff" side but selection good.

I've been a regular patron for the last 40 years. To be true there was this time when I thought the wine was bouchonnée - it was taken away with apologies and no dispute. The food is very good but it does really excels in services. The old waiters have recently given way to a few young fellows who seem... More

I tried first time this restaurant and like the service and food. There is a tradition which must be kept like the moules with French fries and the duck. Overall good quality and good meal

I have eaten quite a few times at this superb restaurant and always left fully satisfied. Peppercorn Beef on this visit was stunning. The beef was juicy and richly flavored and studded generously with black peppercorns. On other occasions the fish and shellfish were also perfectly prepared. Sauces are delicate and flavored subtly so as not to cover the flavor... More

This traditional restaurant is very elegant and has fantastic french cuisine (my favorite dish is the Rognons au Beaujolais), wide wine selection, nice cocktails and excellent service. Unforgettable experience!

I was there celebrating our wedding anniversary, the service is always the best, even when Marie is not there. Food was great, every plate, every course, every detail. It will remain like that for 100 years !

I'm not sure, but I bet this is the oldest french restaurant in town. Very traditional, sober decoration, offers the classics of the french cuisine, like coq au vin or canard à l'orange. Very nice service and a good wine choice. More on the expensive side.

Hi, CatMamma, Thank you for your review! You are right: we're indeed amongst the oldest french restaurants in town - always in the same address and being runned by the same family that inaugurated it. More

Staying in Republica

Neighbourhood Profile
Republica
Part of the historical centre of São Paulo, República was once a fancy residential area. República Square holds a craft and food fair every weekend, right by the subway entrance. Nearby, one of the neighbourhood’s main attractions is the Italian Building, where you can see the city from the 42nd floor. The Copan Building also deserves a close look, with 1,160 apartments and a huge floor area that inspired filmmakers and other artists. To get the feeling of São Paulo in the beginning of the 1900s, visit the Municipal Theatre – you will be amazed by its architecture. The area also features several galleries. República is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.
