Our attendants, Marlene and Nega were very helpful. We had a large table with one baby and a toddler. They had feijoada. We showed up at opening time, noon, and we had a great time! Food was great! I had the tartar. And several appetizers. Definitely recommend!

My friend and I went here for a late dinner and were impressed by the friendliness of the staff. Our waiter spoke English and was extremely helpful and accommodating in making sure that we ordered dishes to our liking. The vegetarian rice was good but my dessert was OUTSTANDING! Nice choice for a decent dinner and fantastic customer service

Went there after the theater for a late dinner. The bar atmosphere is very nice, since it is located at a historical building at downtown São Paulo. They have a nice selection of drinks and beers. The food, from some unconventional ingredients, was delicious and well prepared.

Excellent bar atmosphere, food and caipirinhas. Started with moelas (shared), then galinhada and steak tartar, all very good. Together with caipirinha do Norte (caju and lime). Recommended.

We stumbled onto this famed spot, bar da dona onça, while looking for a place for dinner after our meeting. The menu is extensive and relatively expensive for Brazil, but the food is very good. While this is categorized as a "dive bar," uninitiated expats shouldn't arrive here expecting to find a rough and rugged bar scene. The food you'll... More

It's one of the popular bar"s in São Paulo in the central area . The service is really great, the food is awesome, but do not worst R$69 average every single meal. You pay R$12 Heineken longneck In the central area there a lots of great food much as good as D.Onça for a better price. I"m not coming back.... More

We were here because we were advised to go have a drink while waiting for a table at a restaurant of the same owner. Because of that we didn’t have any foo here but what we saw looked very nice. The staff was also very nice and the place was very chique. We enjoyed our time we spent here.

This bar is in the old center of Sao Paulo and was chosen by friends for a birthday dinner. It is quite old and a bit worn but has a great atmosphere and the food is very special. So it can be a bit noisy as there is a significant happy hour crowd that hang around. You can make reservations... More

I am a Brazilian but I live in Rio. So, last holiday I went to São Paulo to visit my brother. He took me to this amazing restaurant/bar called Bar da Dona Onça. The drinks were fantastic and the food amazing. If you go there, try the drink "Onça Pintada" that is a caipirinha (typical brazilian drink made of cachaça)... More

We went to Bar da Dona Onça for a lunch today(Saturday Oct 8). Location: The locaiton is very especial, at the original center of São Paulo and at The Edifício Copan (Copan Building). Staying in Republica

Neighbourhood Profile
Part of the historical centre of São Paulo, República was once a fancy residential area. República Square holds a craft and food fair every weekend, right by the subway entrance. Nearby, one of the neighbourhood’s main attractions is the Italian Building, where you can see the city from the 42nd floor. The Copan Building also deserves a close look, with 1,160 apartments and a huge floor area that inspired filmmakers and other artists. To get the feeling of São Paulo in the beginning of the 1900s, visit the Municipal Theatre – you will be amazed by its architecture. The area also features several galleries. República is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.
