This is a wonderful restaurant with great views over the sea. The menu is mostly western food but they have thai food as well. Everything tasted fresh and lovely and the portions were really pretty too. I would have given 5 stars but the food is somewhat pricey compared to other places nearby.

We had breakfast here - lovely location, on a raised rock over looking the beautiful beach.
It’s expensive (by Thailand standards) but is very good so the price can almost be justified. We usually eat street food and Thai dishes but, after 2 weeks of travelling, we just fancied a ‘proper breakfast’ so indulged a bit. Full English breakfast is very good, with beans resembling Heinz, a proper pork sausage and western style hash brown. At almost £8 though, it’s on a par with what you might pay in the UK, and is a smaller portion than you’d get in the UK.
The smoothie breakfast bowl was really tasty - I had the Mangolicious - with fresh fruit, really tasty granola on a a mango and banana smoothie base, and at £5 ish was expensive by Thai standards but certainly one of the better breakfasts we’ve had while travelling.
Would come again but it’s out of our price range for this particular trip. The beach also hosts a number of small resorts, with sun loungers and tables ‘for guests only’ and seems to be attracting ‘package holiday’ customers rather than a backpacker crowd, which explains the inflated pricing all along this stretch of Long Beach.
This is a nice venue though, tucked right into the corner by the rocks and staff are friendly and helpful so worth venturing all the way to the end of the beach if you want an ‘English breakfast’ that is better than most.

Ate here many times for lunch, cocktails and dinner during our week stay at the adjacent Thai House Beach Resort. The large decked terrace overlooks the beach and has great sunset views. The bar and restaurant are professionally managed by André, and the staff are friendly and speak good English. The varied menu has Thai and European dishes, and all the food is good quality. (Would also recommend Fruit Tree for breakfast and Cosy for dinner).

Well this is a perfectly located beach bar and we have visited several times this season and last and we have recommended to friends.
Today the service was terrible. Staff squatting between the kitchen window and the menu stand are more interested in their phones than service. I ordered calamari which was tough and the waiter’s response was that no one else had complained. The plate was then removed and presented to a woman at the bar who turned out to be the assistant manager. Trouble was she was so busy canoodling with her chap at the bar it took her at least 10 mins to attend to our issue.
I get that it’s hot and busy and it was mid-afternoon but I was disappointed and expected better here.

I've no idea what the issue was when we visited but everything seemed to be going wrong. People who had booked were having to wait ages for their table, groups were being crammed on to tables that were too small for them, everyone was having to wait an age to order, and then when the food did come out, orders didn't come together so families and groups were not eating at the same time.
The biggest issue was the owner's refusal to acknowledge to anyone that anything was wrong or offer any kind of explanation or apology. I can't help but think that doing this would have eased some people's frustrations.
Yes, the food was good and the cocktails were delicious. It was the overall attitude and the manner with which the problems were dealt with (or not) which means I won't go back on my next visit and I'd suggest others try any of the other lovely restaurants nearby first.

We called in for a bite to eat on Sunday evening around 7 p.m.after a day on the beach. The three dishes we ordered were tapas/starters, aranchini, prawns wrapped in beef with wasabi dip and calarami with garlic mayo. We found the calamari chewy, the aranchini bland, and the prawns fairly ordinary. Whilst we ate the food, we would not rush back for another meal there. The setting itself is beautiful overlooking the beach, listening to the sound of the waves but the food could have been much better. We also found the service skant and found it difficult to attract anyone's attention to pay the bill. In England we would call this bar food rather than restaurant standard.

My boyfriend and I spent a week in Koh Lanta and we came to the Fat Turtle twice because we liked it so much. This bar/restaurant is right on the beach and offers stunning views of the sunset paired with excellent cocktails. They have a large, diverse menu with many Western options if you're in need of a break from Thai food (as we were!). Service is also excellent. Definitely pay this place a visit when in Koh Lanta!

We stumble upon Fat turtle one evening and sat st the bar for a drink and appetizers. We had the oyster mushrooms skewers that were ok and the Crispy fish in chili lime and mint sauce. It was amazing! My husband does not like fish usually and he had one bite after the other...
We came back another night and tried another appetizer- prawns wrapped in aged beef with wasabi aioli that was fantastic.
Both time we experienced and enjoyed superb service, very pleasant atmosphere and creative menu.
Highly recommend!

The Fat Turtle was by far the busiest restaurant we visited during our stay in Koh Lanta. It’s very popular with families and groups. It has a nice, easy going vibe and quite a ‘Western’ feel to it. The menu has a good variety of dishes, portions are large and the service is efficient. They had a fire show on the beach one evening we were there which was quite entertaining.

Fantastic option for breakfast at a reasonable price. You have a set menu of the usual fry ups etc, but we preferred the customized menu where we get to choose what we wanted - brown toast bacon eggs ham mushrooms spinach cumberland sausage (exactly like in the uk!) cheese etc. All had right in front of the ocean! such bliss! 💛 Brilliant service too!

Nice food but pricey.... If your looking for traditional food then this place isn't for you... The menu seemed very American themed including the price.... We went four years ago and was very Thai but felt we could of been any where in the world.

We wanted to see a fire show and heard that turtle Bar have one so off we went, we were greeted by really nice staff who showed us to a table and were fine with the fact we only wanted drinks and to watch the show, drinks were really nice.
The fire show was spectacular, breath takingly so and we were definitely entertained, the performer put on a fantastic show and it went on for quite a while, nit a quick show, blink and miss it, it was mesmerising.
We liked Turtle so much that we made plans to go back another evening with friends for dinner.
Again, we were greeted by lovely staff who were welcoming and helpful, they talked us through the menu, and helped us choose.
The food came fairly quickly and was great, presented well and looked very tasty, and indeed tasted it too, it was well cooked and went down a treat, everyone enjoyed their dishes and not one of us had anything other than good things to say about the food.
We will definitely return next year when we are back on the island

We came here regularly when we visited the island in Jan 23, for breakfast lunch and dinner and love loved it, so I was really keen to come back during our visit this year even though we stayed in a hotel a little further away. The menu hadn’t changed much which I was really happy with as it was great last time and is quite different to all the other restaurants which all seem to offer the same thing.
We ordered crispy chilli beef to share to start and it was really fantastic. Sadly the main courses were not so great… I had steak & shrimp paenang and my partner had green curry risotto… both were cold when they were served and the waiting staff were really inattentive so by the time we got hold of someone to say something it wasnt worth it and we’d been really hungry anyway so just made the best of what it was. When they cleared our table we asked for a dessert menu and 20 mins later we were still waiting so when the maitre’d came back and apologised for forgetting about us we just said we’d changed our mind.
May be we just caught them on a bad night but it was bad enough for us to be really disappointed. We’d planned to go to one of their other reataurants before we left the island but as this was the most disappointing meal we had during our 2 weeks on the island, we decided against it. A real shame as we’d had such lovely memories of meals here the previous year.

Excellent food, service, location overlooking ocean facing west. Brilliant view of sunset. Limited indoor seating so dry weather recommended. On fire show nights reservations are recommended. The hamburgers were well I resented and tasted great! Why four stars out if five? Most items on the menu cost between 300-450 baht or about $8.50-$14.00 per item.

The fat turtle is the best place to get good Thai fusion and western food. The owners are exceptionally very accommodating and helpful. They will go out of their way to make your experience great.
As for the good, everything on the menu is beautiful without exception
