I was somewhat disappointed given this restaurant's high ranking in Tuk Tuk. I went for dinner and ordered the pork sangsang. It came with rice and kangkong. The meal is more expensive than other local restaurants and is supposed to come with mixed steamed vegetables and tapioca leaves with coconut. The mixed vegetables turned into steamed kangkong and they didn't... More

Walked out here to try the food, wasn't disappointed. The grilled fish was super fresh and had amazing charcoal flavours with sambal and some lime. Photo doesn't do it justice. She also made the avocado shake without chocolate at my request (although it was too thick and not sweet enough). Food did take 45min to an hour to come out... More

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch last week. We had a Batak style chicken curry, stir fried vegetables and a pineapple and coconut pancake for dessert. Everything was made from scratch and was delicious. Would definitely recommend having a meal here.

Absolutely amazing fresh fish. Definitely some of the best fish I have ever had. Doesn't look like much, small family joint. Everyone was involved, daughter seated me, son, father and mother cooked. I came when it was quiet, for lunch. Only me and 2 locals. Cannot recommend enough. Great food! Definitely order from traditional batak part of menu, it's pricier... More

We googled for restaurants on Samosir Island and this was one of the ones with great reviews and for good reason. You could almost miss it if you didn't know where its location but we stopped in for lunch and returned the next day for dinner. The items on the menu are delicious (we had a lovely Batak chicken curry... More

I had the Ikan Arsik and fresh water lobster. For me one of the best dishes I've ever had and I wouldn't mind traveling back to lake toba just to eat it again!

This is a small family run restaurant. The first time we had lunch here, it was traditional batak fish "Ikan Arsik" and avocado salad (fresh!). Really good and fresh fish. The chef, who is the wife/mother of the family is friendly, speaks good english and is also very genuine in her recommendation. It was so good we returned for dinner... More

Marubas small restaurant don't look much from the outside, but there's some few tables with decent view over garden and the lake. We choose the Batak food even though it was double price compared with the ordinary Indonesian dishes. And it's totally worth it, they come with fantastic Urap sallad. First day I had the fish so fantastic and my... More

We stepped into Maruba's randomly and the universe meant it good with us: delicious fresh food and a very nice 'host-mam' to talk with! So we ordered the special dishes for the next evening and the beef rendang was more than worth every rupiah, highly recommended! And don't miss to enjoy the coconut cookies: freshly made and served hot, absolutely... More
