great place to relax and watch the sun go down a regular hot spot for tourists sadly missing at the moment locals and expatriates support the smaller local businesses where ever you are

Slightly Chilled is my favourite bar in Kandy for a number of reasons. With an extensive menu offering a mix of Western & Asian cuisines including some of the best Chinese food I've had in Sri Lanka, an incredibly well stocked bar and a big...screen in the back for the footie, it already ticks the boxes! Especially when you factor in the competition in the city, however the real magic of the place comes alive between 5pm to 6pm(ish)... No, not the happy hour although that is most welcome, but the glorious sunset view over Kiri Muhuda, makes this a place you can't miss when coming to town. Michael and Kate, the owners, are always around to ensure this family-run, 'homely feel' establishment meets the high standard people expect, and so long as they own it I will keep coming back every time I visit.More

We had a good time at this location. The drinks are good and the view over the kandy lake is stunning. The food was average in taste but great in quantity. Mostly british tourists go there.

The atmosphere here is friendly, and the service is efficient. The owner is a truly affable character and is very interactive with the clientele. He is a great source for information about Kandy and beyond and just a great guy to talk with. Where this...establishment fell short for me was with the food. I’m always curious to try versions of Chinese food beyond my own borders. In recent years the large numbers of Chinese Nationals working on projects around the world has led me to some stunning Chinese food in unexpected places. Not here. Our group sampled a total of 10 or 11 dishes. Without exception they were all reminiscent of the Chinatown-style food most of us in the west grew up with. Each item was either sweeter with a heavier sheen of cornstarch than the last or otherwise quite intentionally modified for the Western palate. I’d recommend this as a great place to catch the sunset and have a few drinks, but I’d stick to the local Sri-Lankan restaurants for a better dining experience.More

Thankyou to Michael and his staff for an amazing experience. I first visited on my own looking for a premier league game. They set it up just for me and i ended up watching both games and having a great time, also chatted to Michael...the owner whilst we watched City v Liverpool and he was a really great guy. I had some bar food as well which was lovely. Second time a week or so later i came back with some of my travel group, it was Poya and we wre after some 'tea' which was kindly allowed. Again, Michael was there and seemed genuinely happy to see us. I would have visited more but i was on a tour and we left for Ella the next day. It would be great to chat to Michael again as i have plans to come back to Kandy early 2021 with a means to stay for alot longer. His advice would be appreciated, so Michael, if you read this and remember me, do you have a business email i can reach you at? Kindest regards to you all. StuartMore

This is a great place with the service tremendous and a great food and drinks menu. When we arrived it was very laid back but it is a popuar place and began to fill up and soom there were tables for two being put on...a table of six etc etc That was the only negative though. It is a fair way out of town but there are tuk tuks outside waiting when you finish your night.More

Had a nice night in Slightly Chilled! The staff are great and friendly and the food is a mix of asian food, similar to chinese food but it also includes Sri Lankan dishes. Everything we bought was tasty. They have a salsa instructor coming in...on Sundays and they do a salsa night. They also have a big screen for showing sports. There is an outdoor terrace overlooking Kandy lake where you can catch an amazing sunset. The food and drinks and slightly more expensive than a local restaurant in the area, but it's still a decent price for nice quality food.More
