And ridicolpusly cheap. The locale is no palace though so nothing for the fancy. But the food was, once again, great!

Frankly speaking, when going here at 03:00pm quite hungry and tired, we were not expecting much of this basic place. The place was crowded by local people and the food was really good. A good experience !!!

Had 2 veg kottu's here and the first one, prepared by the big guy was very nice hence I came back for another one the next night. The second one was prepared by the younger looking lad and he was clearly not as passioned about his kottu but with the sauce it was still okay. Furthermore the staff is friendly... More

Basic place, must be thousands like this in Sri Lanka, which is precisely the appeal of it, it feels authentic all the way. Not clean, menu not elaborate, interior not sofisticated, just a plain and simple hole in the wall diner. Cars racing by, tuc-tuc-drivers eating next to you, the cook op front noisely chopping kottu. But don't be mistaken,... More

In this restaurant you get what you are looking for - great tasty food, very good prices and friendly people (owner whith family). We visit this restaurant at the begining of our stay in Polonnaruwa and every day we return to have a food here. New Ariyasinhala Hotel. The name on trip advisor is incorrect, because of this our driver found it hard to find because we were asking for the incorrect place, after looking at the photo of the menu card he sorted it out. And we are glad he did, the food was delicious and one third the price of the food in... More

This place was recommended to me by a local and it definitely didn't disappoint. Delicious authentic Sri Lankan food with very good prices and the staff are absolutely lovely. In fact I loved this place so much that I ended up eating three meals here (lunch, dinner & breakfast) during my 1 night stay in Polonnaruwa! Highly recommend the rice... More

Delicious, fresh rice and curry. Large portion sizes, excellent variety of vegetable dishes. An excellent alternative to westernised hotel restaurants if you're looking for an authentic sri Lankan eating experience. The interior is basic but clean.

Go try the food and you will not be disappointed. It was worthy of a second visit and took our driver as staff were very friendly and the food was fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Personally the Kothuthu was my favourite with the added bonus of an exuberant display in making the dish in the front window. Thanks for adding... More

We enjoyed our dinner here so much that we went again for lunch today. We tried Kothuthu (chopped up roti with meat & veg - kind of like fried rice but with roti instead of rice), very yummy. We also had chicken curry which was accompanied by a bowl of dahl, chilli potatoes, plus 2 other veg dishes. The menu... More
