Had a lovely stay here and enjoyed the evening meal as well. We had a lovely veggie rice and curry and would recommend this place to anyone. Location on the river is also nice.

I think we visited at a quiet time, we sat on a platform on the lagoon which was beautiful but our food was not great.

We stayed at Coconut Island Cabanas on two occasions in February 2016. The food at this quaint little restaurant is ideally situated on the lagoon. It is simply THE BEST! The fish, lobster, and prawns are delicious and won't cost you an arm and a leg. Francine Rizza, author of "Now Anyone Can Explore China"

I love this place. Great fresh food, from lobsters and prawns to chilli chicken and Dahl. But for me the one thing I can't get enough of, is their special rice and curry, steamed and served in a banana leaf. So simple and so tasty. Ask for their special, home made, seeni sambals (onion chutney) which is so good I... More

Lovely dinner and wonderful food. We pre ordered the rice and curry and arrived at coconut island. The scenery was very special sitting at the lagoon and watching the sunset. Two of the vegetarian curries I enjoyed a lot. The potato one and the green one as it tasted a bit like thai curry. Lovely dinner. Thank u

Throughout our trip to Sri Lanka we've been continuously disappointed by the food and service at guesthouses and tourist spots but this totally bucks the trend. I'd go as far to say that the chicken curry is the best I've ever had, so many lovely flavours and not drowned out by spice. The service was impeccable, the young lad that... More

Got fed up with the expensive and bad tasting hotel food, we decided to explore the area for other restaurants. Even though it costs an extra Rs1,500 to get to this place, it definitely beats the food we have been having so far. Atmosphere is chilled and food is reasonably priced. Definitely worth the visit if you want some decent... More

Hands down the best curry we had in Tangalle. The place itself is located on the lagoon and during sunset it's absolutely beautiful (arrive early to get the best tables on top of the lagoon). The service is really friendly and we we're the only customers. We also rented kayaks from this restaurant and had a wonderful morning experience with... More

If you want fresh prawns or fish this is the place to eat.Prawns are caught daily from the lagoon and the fish straight out of the sea the same day.You can actually see Gayan ( the owner )early in the morning fishing off the bridge next to the restaurant. Will be going back for sure.
