This is one of my favorite place in Chennai to have idli.. Sweet pongal, onion dose and idly are my favorites. They provide variety of chutnies.. One thing which I don't like about them is, they will ask whether we need oil poda but they will not inform us that they are charged separately.. We will come to know about... More

The butter oothappam of Murugan idly shop is my favorite. Their podi and ghee with idly are awesome. I love their butter dishes more than idlies. All the chutneys are average taste whereas sambar is very good. It is better to have idly and dosa with podi rather than chutneys.

Authentic south Indian Food, Fantastic quality and outstanding service is something that i generally associate with a big bill..... but not at Murugan idli shop. The place is more like a flat that has been converted to a restaurant but my oh my the menu will put you in a state of complacency and only thing to do is order... More

Will rate the place as Good. The place was recommended by my colleague for Dinner. Known for Idlis and South Indian Cuisine, the food is served on Banana Leaves and one is supposed to eat with fingers/hands which is the normal practice in South India. Spoons are available on request. The experience was different if you are from North India. The... More

The service of murugan idli kadai is going to the lowest...people should be trained properly...They are bitting their nails while standing without any work...The management should train people properly...The taste is coming down and the price is going up...

At the weekends there's a queue out the door at this place so we were pleased to find it quite on a Monday early evening. Within 2 or 3 minutes of being seated our banana leaves had been loaded with idly and a host of sauces and sambhar and the faster we ate the more it was replenished! We'll go... More

Melt in the mouth Idlis. Pongal is also good. Don't miss on Jigarthanda which is another Madurai speciality as Idli.
